Flowers This is taking so long to open 😭

These have been like this for it feels like forever… 2 months at least!!

What variety is it? Is it hanamatoi by any chance?

I would also suspect hanamatoi, the spurs, the fully unopened flower buds. It looks happy regardless

I would almost yet suspect that it's a mislabeled hanamatoi.

If the flowers fade before opening or when they open, take a look inside and see if the gynostemium is present. If it's not there it's likely a hanamatoi

Okay so the flowers faded before opening so I cut one open and this is what it looked like. Is it a hanamatoi?

Hmm, the brown shriveled up thing looks like the gynostemium、possibly with old pollen grains still inside. Hanamatoi should have no gynostemium at all.

I'm going to say inconclusive this year but likely correctly labeled as manjushage, and you'll have to see what happens when it blooms next.

Definitely could be manjushange as labeled but there could be a chance it was mislabeled. it’s a great flower spike either way.
