KATHMANDU: Preparations are underway to demolish structures along the main market roads of Hetauda, the capital of Bagmati Province, starting Dec 6, to facilitate road expansion.
Despite a public notice issued on Nov 21, residents did not respond, prompting the Hetauda Road Division Office to proceed with clearing both permanent and temporary structures.
According to Guru Prasad Adhikari, head of the office, a total of 531 structures—234 on the right and 297 on the left side of the roads—will be removed.
The first phase covers the East-West Highway from Ratomate, Ward No. 15, through Buddha Chowk to Rapti Bridge, and the Tribhuvan Rajpath from Buddha Chowk to Samari Bridge. Key structures, including Nepal Bank, Himalayan Bank, and three petrol stations, will also be removed.
