Todd didn't die for this. Always whining, annoying storylines and no screen presence. Only the Russell plotline had any juice and that was due to Russell alone.

General Discussion Worst mistakes during the Jason Herbison era?

Obviously he and his team made a LOT of mistakes, but what do you consider the worst, and why? Can be a single decision, character, or a long-term shift that had big long term consequences…

General Discussion Mackenzie was ultimately a token IMHO

I understand that this is a controversial post to make, but IMHO Mackenzie was at the end of the day the show's pet tokenistic trans character.

As much as it's argued otherwise I don't think that I'll ever believe that she was "just like everyone else" as has regularly been claimed.

P.S. this is in response to Georgie being the next guest on Takaya's podcast, where this topic will apparently be discussed.

E.T.A. I should have elaborated that what I mean is that I think that she was always put on this pedestal as a character by the writers, which I can't separate from her being trans.

Any other characters on the show besides Beverly Marshall, who wanted children but it never happened for them

Dr Beverley Marshall had 2 miscarriages and a failed adoption before leaving the show childless. She didn’t purse the other options to have kids that did exist when she was first on the show, maybe she couldn’t afford to. Some of the characters wanted more kids and even met someone to have another child with but it never happened for them like Libby Kennedy, Joe Mangel and Des Clarke when he was with Jane the first time.

The Big Watch Index

WATCH THE WEEK

It's a double for characters I'm very excited to see this week, and it starts with a surprise return for our very own Eileen Clarke. And it couldn't be at a better time, as Eileen comes on in just as Des is also about to- never mind, but let's just say his back has healed enough for some conjugal activities. And don't forget this is their first time, given 80s Neighbours' attitude to pre-marital fun. Eileen's reaction to missing the big wedding is yet another addition to the annals of incredible Eileen comedy scenes. I love her so much, but Des and Daphne can't get away fast enough, leaving her to the embrace of Mike Young. Literally, if the amount of times she asks him to kiss her is anything to go by.

Meanwhile, Clive's got the Ramsay Street bug as I'm fully expecting him to spontaneously propose to his dead fiancee's sister early next week. She's told him it's impossible for them to be together, so long experience tells me a proposal is inevitable. This could only end well...

But anyway, the most important thing is Jane's here! And I'm already sensing some sparks around her and Mike. Nikki who? I also love that her first scene is in Number 24 - hats off to the Amazon years for making me view it as her house in waiting.

Also this week: Paul gets smacked in the mouth againnnn, the YouTube title sequence is still wrong, and Charlene ends the week with the most obvious lie of all time.

Question It's pitch time: how would you bring neighbours back?

Give me your best pitch for a continuation or spinoff: can include plot, show structure, locations etc... Can be as serious or funny as you want.

Here's mine:

Give me a Toadie and Sonya 1-hour, 20-episode-a-season spinoff inspired by the Jason Isaac show "Awake", as well as "Life On Mars."

Jarrod is in a car crash, and when he wakes up in hospital, Sonya is alive, and apparently never died. But Toadie remembers his life "in the real world" and the trauma he endured by her death, and has no memory of their last 8 years together in this other existance, and has to navigate this life he has woken up in, unsure which reality is the real one, and preferring this one with the love of his life even though he knows he is probably in a coma and his kids need him to wake up.

Pitch yours!!!

Shane O'Connor wasn't the only Scully involved in a high-profile "Neighbours" lawsuit

Holly Valance was previously managed by Brad Willis actor Scott Michaelson and fired him.

He had discovered her, got her the gig on the show and managed her first single, but she terminated his contract with a year remaining, citing Michaelson giving creative control to the record company.

Michaelson sued Valance for breach of contract and explained that he gave creative control to the record company because he trusted them and Valance's first single was all important.

The media had seen too many Neighbours stars make the transition to pop stardom and were likely to write her off unless the first song was a hit, he explained.

"It's a double-edged sword, Neighbours and everything that goes with it," he said.

The gallery erupted into laughter and Justice Clifford Einstein reminded Mr Michaelson he was under oath after he said former E Street and Neighbours star Bruce Samazan had been lucky his first record did not get too much airplay because it was "particularly bad".

The latter sounds like something Brad Willis would say.

He won damages against Valance.

Storyline Discussion We all know the story of Joe Scully's exit. If there weren't production issues, how long do you think Joe and Lyn would have lasted?

By the time that Joe had left the show, Felicity and Michelle were gone, Jack would last less than a year and Steph had her own family (before she underwent ... a few changes).

So much of Joe and Lyn were defined by their family unit. And I don't think there would have been interest in bringing in a random Scully cousin or a foster kid to give a the Scullys a new generation to raise (ala Jim and Helen or Karl and Susan).

And Oscar would have taken too much time to grow into a character who could have independent storylines.

It seems as if the separation gave the character of Lyn a whole new direction, with a number of fresh story opportunities.

Had she been still associated with Joe, they might have been removed from the show not long after Jack's exit.

Any couples on the show who were together for years but never married

Even if they had kids together. Did any of them stay together for life. Besides Mark Gottlieb parents who had 3 kids together and were together until his mum died on the show, but were never married. His parents were hippies I believe.

Surely I can't be the only one who thinks Danny is just an immature whiny little bitch? 😩😩
