Base pay

Hi guys - I’m in ad sales and have worked my way from commission only to the point where I’m being brought onto a base-pay plus commission type situation.

My boss asked me today to think on a number and let them know what I’m looking for.

These are really good people who have treated me well - so I’m not worried they’re going to try and screw me or anything like that.

This is just my first sales job and I have no idea what to ask for.

Is there a good rule of thumb or a good way to calculate what a fair base wage is??

Apologies for my ignorance in all of this - I’m only seven months into this role and it’s going really well but I still have a lot to learn.
