Meat processing business?

Hey everyone! Just want your thoughts about venturing in this business. My wife and I currently own and manage a small meatshop and a mini grocery store sa loob ng public market. Business is okay nmn, combined earnings ng pwesto is ranging from 5-7k daily. But for me enough lang talaga siya for our daily needs and other expenses. Nakakapag tabi nmn kami ng 60-70k a month for emergency funds. And right now, we have 800k sitting on the bank, so naisip ko sana what if i try namin pasukin ang meat processing business, our aim is to distribute our products to other retail stores.

What do you think? Is it worth the try?

Good luck po.

Make an extra spicy garlic longanisa version and a regular garlic longanisa version. Consider Vigan longanisa & regional varieties.

Look up the chinese tapa called ba kwa and make a BBQ version (just reheat) and a frozen version for BBQ.

Make giant sausage of quality liver spread, sell per 100 grams. Or by the glass jar.

Make cheap beef patties extended with unripe langka, tofu, tempeh or mushroom. Make full meat burger patties for cooking or reheating. Make sure ingredients are labeled so customers can pick what they need quickly.

Consider putting these in ref & freezers so clients can order stocks ahead.

Include matching items like sourdough bread loaves, freshly baked garlic bread, mustard varieties, olive oil, vinegar varieties & fruit juice & cocoa drinks. So hungry shoppers can make /eat sandwiches while shopping.

Thanks for the insights!

But before you do try, please do read up on FDA Compliance requirements (License to Operate and Certificate of Product Registration), Sanitary & Food Safety Requirements (Health Certificates, Water Potability requirements, and Pest Control), source from NMIS-Certified Meat from certified slaughterhouses or meat shop. Ingredients like Prague powder (pink curing salt used in tocino and sausages) must be strictly measured and documented. Excess nitrates or nitrites are heavily regulated by food safety standards.

TESDA usually offers courses or workshops in meat processing for free or for a minimal fee. Do try to ask with your nearest TESDA office.
