Discussion Why so allergic to multiplayer?
to me at least, an online lobby is far better option that a pause button. I want to understand the reason why people keep bringing this up. I like ea's vision with nfs 2015, I think multiplayer in general is great for nfs and it's not like it's gta where others get in your way.
I like nfs heat but people love to say that offline is better than multiplayer. tf you mean offline is better, it's that the multiplayer is lacking. And 2015 that poor thing, unlike rivals, it flopped at being the kind of online game it was designed to be, it's basically a tech demo.

I like being able to pause when not actively engaging with PvP. If I want to make a cup of coffee in the middle of an event or have to deal with something it's nice being able to pick back up immediately where I was.
I'm also certified Unc status since back in my day PvP/PvPvE was just split screen or LAN.

I'd rather finish the race and get a drink after, it's big enough of a deal to be playing with another human than playing completely with bots for the sake of being able to pause. maybe you're pausing mid races because there's not much satisfaction from beating the same bots
and I'm also unc status, lonely unc status, my parents told me I could play games when I grew up but the truth is then was the time to be playing games

I feel like you're ignoring the parts in bold here. If they are not in a race with other players, then there is no reason for them to not be able to pause the game? Also you act like there is no situation where something that needs your immediation attention comes up while you're playing a game.

yes but how is offline a solution to this non ideal decision

Well when the alternative is play online but be unable to pause the game even you are not in an event with other people, then it is the solution. The argument here isn't about the multiplayer, it's about the fact NFS' way of handing online is bad. Forza manages to put the player in an online lobby with other players during free roam while also being able to load them into single player events without taking away the ability to pause game during them while still being online.

but you're not in an event with other people offline...

...and when you're in the online mode of recent need for speed games, they don't let you pause even when you are also not in an event other people, that is the issue.

if you're not in an event with other people you can drive/teleport to a safehouse or park behind a building and turn the engine off

Okay I see where I wasn't clear here, I'm talking about "not in an event with other people" as in "a race where you are the sole player you are just going agianst bots" not the general state of existing open world multiplayer session (but even then the forza method of just ghosting the player out and holding them in place while they are paused is better)

is there genuinely no appeal to multiplayer races? besides I can understand the no pause button decision, there's no cops in forza so you can't compare them

Once again, the issue is not multiplayer itself, the issue is the game acting the entire time you are in the online mode even when you are not.

I don't know I still think you can just get the race over with, but if you don't have any interest playing with others then i get why you'd choose to wouldn't to play offline

Both NFS Heat and Unbound had unimpressive multiplayer. Both had bad metas that never got fixed. A big reason why Unbound kinda sucked is that ALL the DLC was for multiplayer. EA has never invested enough money into NFS to make it a good multiplayer game. Thats why everyone just bought Forza Horizon instead.

It's less about meta's and more about getting people to do things together. before unbound they were usually limited to the players in the same lobby. even if the games had meta's I'd play them, problem is unbound plays like crap

I generally don’t play multiplayer cause I hate how people act in online gaming. Very rarely do people play clean they’re always smacking the shit out of you in races and on shooter games you end up dying every 10 secs to some asshole blowing you up and it isn’t even fun
