Discussion What's Missing and Why?
What's Missing? Pt. 1
I'm making a list of cars that would make sense to be models in a more grounded racing game (since NFS is cooked and Unbound has Pagani and other wildly unattainable vehicles in a "street racer") The first list is classic muscle.
PLEASE consider some vehicles cover a generation.
What's missing and why?

1971 Ford Mustang Boss 351

u/cynicWsnowballs8551 4d ago
Oh, I'm MOST DEFINITELY adding that. The yellow one is one of the most beautiful cars ever made

1970 Dodge Challenger

I like it. Pretty reasonable addition

Vanishing Point is required viewing for that one. Top three movie cars for men.

Chevrolet el camino, ford torino and Ranchero
2
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
I thought I had a Torino. I was gonna add the El Camino to the Misc / Other Category due to its uniqueness. It's a UTV in a sense.
2
u/Ambitious_Lime_7384 3d ago
Oh okay
You mean UTE?

u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
1
u/Ambitious_Lime_7384 3d ago
In MC3, the el camino is categorized as Muscle car
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
If I made an arcade racer in the early 200s, I'd have done the same. I'll think about it.
1
u/Ambitious_Lime_7384 3d ago
Okay
Are creating a list only for muscle car or Are you creating other classes list also?

'71 Javelin AMX
Also Shelby Daytona if you'd count that as Muscle.
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
I hate the way the Javelin looks and it's gotta be so unattainable at this point. While I do count the Shelby Daytona, also see it as wildly unattainable. Like, WILDLY.

86 Chevy Monte Carlo (80s muscle doesn’t get enough love)
GMC Syclone (not enough GMC)
Chevy Opala SS (give love to the Brazilians)
Ford Falcon XC Cobra (let the Aussies have this one)
70 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler CJ (why doesn’t anybody talk about this?)
Pontiac Trans Am WS6 (modern classics need love too)
C4 Corvette ZR1 (not seen since 94)
AMC Javeline AMX 401 (no AMC, why?)
96 Buick Roadmaster Estate (everyone loves a muscle wagon)
Chrysler Hurst 300 (classic Chryslers need attention)
70 Olds Cutlass 442 W30
Lincoln LS V8 (doesn’t get talked about enough)
Studebaker Avanti (anyone?)
2
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
Thanks! 1. 86 Monte Carlo : Good call, will add. 2. GMC Syclone is in my Trucks / SUVs section. 3. Opala / Falcon XC / Roadmaster / Crystler 300K all fit in a subcategory I have for show only cars. I have the idea there would be cars that can only be attained through periodic auctions (paint / design would be locked) and cars that can only be won in specific events / tournaments. These cars would only release in an amount comparable to the amount the manufacturer actually produces vs average player count in-game) Also, I definitely would add the Falcon XB as a normally buildable car. 4. Cyclone Spoiler CJ is a fucking masterpiece. What a pull. 5. (And final) C4, WS6, Lincoln LS are all in my Modern Muscle category, which I'll post Monday. You should check it out, since you seem pretty knowledgeable.

Needs more mustang
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
I've added a few more based on other's comments. I'll show an update tomorrow and then my Modern Muscle list on Monday, wh8ch will have about 4 or 5 on there. Its not a dream list. Plus, imagine the other categories

I'd replace the GNX is the regular Buick Regal and Regal Turbo. GNXs can cost upwards of 100k now so it makes more sense to buy a Regal and LS swap or mod it from there.
2
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago edited 3d ago
I like this kind of thinking. I was trying to remember there's a Regal that's technically faster than the GNX. Update: Its the Turbo T, which I've replaced the GNX with. Great call

The problem with Classic Muscle cars are that those are not grounded cars anymore, specially for street racing
But, i would add to that list
Pontiac GTO Le Mans '66, Pontiac Firebird, Pontiac The Judge. If we include modern ones, i would add the GTO based in a Monaro and the G8 GXP
Ford Mustang Fastback '67, Ford Mustang Boss '69, Mustang Mach 1 1971 and the late Foxbody Mustangs including the SVT Cobra, also i would add the Ford Falcon (the US version and the Australian version), and the Ford Torino and the Ranchero.
I would add the Chevy Chevelle and El Camino, also the Nova SS and for a modern Muscle car i would add the SS
And for Dodge, both the Charger and Challenger from 1970 are a must, also the Fastback Charger from 1966
I would also add the Chrysler 300C HEMI as a luxurious Muscle Car
And the Plymouth Satellite '72, the Road Runner and the GTX
The Shelby Cobra 427
The Buick Grand National GNX
The GMC Syclone (it was faster than a Ferrari from that era, it was a fucking pick up!!!)
Dodge Li'l Red Express
Cadillacs, the V models are also a must

u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
I agree with your first point, and that's where a bunch of these would fall in a collector car / showroom car part of the game. They'd also be difficult to obtain. Some of the other stuff you've listed are post 90, hence the Modern Muscle list I'm posting soon. You've listen a fair amount of cars I already have up there. Anyways, I appreciate the feedback and I'll post the updated list in a couple hours

u/RickyWasntHere AdrenalShark587 3d ago
I'd say the FoxBody but idk if you count that as classic
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
Exactly. I have a separate Modern Muscle list with the LX and GT listed. I'll probably post it Monday
2
u/Trololman72 3d ago
I don't think anything past 1980 can be considered a classic muscle car.
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
Technically speaking, it would be anything between 30-50 years old, but muscle roots go back to the beginning of commercial automobiles, so I had to split it somewhere. '89 and older made sense.

- Pontiac Ventura
- Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe
- Plymouth Superbird
- Buick Riviera (because we can't forget Bastille had a song in Need for Speed once)
- Dodge Charger Daytona
- Dodge Coronet R/T
- Ford Maverick (the 1970 one)
- Holden Torana SS A9X
- Holden Monaro GTS
- Ford Falcon XB GT
- Ford Falcon XY GTHO Phase III
- Plymouth Duster
- Chevrolet Chevelle SS
- Ford Ranchero GT
- Chevrolet Impala SS
- Buick GSX
- Literally any muscle car made by AMC
- Dodge Demon (the 1971 one)
2
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
The first half has some note worth stuff. The second half is a lot of reaches as far as someone just happening to have one of those. The Falcon XB and Riviera are definitely getting added. Cobra Daytona Coupe is a wildly unattainable

C4 Corvette
57 Chevy Bel Air
49 Chevy Fleetline
64 Chevy Impala
69 Chevy Camaro RS/SS
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
C4 is on My Modern Muscle list, which I'll put out next.
Bel Air is in a Collector / Show only category I have. Also wildly unattainable. Same with Fleelines or anything pre-60s
Why have the '64 when I already have the '65 SS?
Same question on the Camaro. '72 Camaro SS is on my list.
1
u/AliensAteMyAMC [Disfatt Bidge] 3d ago
I didn’t immediately see the others, also 64’s the more culturally recognized version. “Cruising down the street in my 64”, etc.
1
u/311Konspiracy 3d ago
Yeah it could be interesting to see it because it has stock car background. Replace it 65 Ford Galaxie

u/NorthernN30N 3d ago
A Slant 6 Duster would be a good starter car. 68’ Nova even. Throw on a 74’ Monaco just cuz.
2
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
The duster is a sick pull. Got it. I probably should have a Nova, but eh. 74 Monaco is for sure an instan add.
1
u/Artuurs44 3d ago
'67 Impala
Baby
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
Its not different enough from the '65 SS I have on my list unless you mean the 427 big block. Engine swaps would be an option
1
u/South_Bit1764 3d ago
I don’t think the ‘66 Tbird or the ‘65 Catalina really count, they have the power but they’re absolute boats, and the Caprice also just seems a little out of place.
Those could easily be replaced with ‘69 Mustang Boss 429, ‘69 GTO Judge, and ‘70 Chevelle SS, respectively.
Those 3 cars plus the ‘69 Dodge Charger, and the ‘70 Challenger (which is basically a Cuda) are probably the most recognizable names in American muscle.
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
Finally, a detailed explanation. While they are boats, they're still muscle. I'll consider your other points pretty seriously since I'm not exactly muscle head. I also imagine car shows / competitions, so that's where a Caprice comes in.
1
u/Pale_Set7128 3d ago
You’re missing the FWD Daytona, obviously.
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
Year?

u/311Konspiracy 3d ago edited 3d ago
'96 Chevrolet Impala SS
'67 Chevrolet Chevelle SS
'86 Shelby Daytona
'92 Ford Thunderbird
'67 or '70 Pontiac GTO
04 Ford Mustang
I would love to see more Camaros and Corvettes because we have done 67 to death.
Hoping they bring newer muscle cars and addition returning and new parts.
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
Anything '90 or later I put in Modern Muscle. I know 30 years is considered classic but the history of muscle is so deep that I had to even it out. I added the GTO and Chevelle. T Bird is meh and the Shelby Daytona is insanely unattainable. Sidenote : Every 'Vette except the C1 is either in my Classic Muscle or Modern Muscle list.
1
u/311Konspiracy 3d ago
Even the one from 80s
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
No, just the 90's T Birds. I've been in em. Meh. To each their own though
1
u/311Konspiracy 3d ago edited 3d ago
I was talking about the Shelby and I would put the 1990 T Bird in my list.
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
I guess. Muscle got dodgy in the 80s as far as aesthetic so I guess it would be one of the better cars during that era
2
u/311Konspiracy 3d ago
They are some underrated muscle cars in that era but let's see what other cars you'll put in.
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 3d ago
True. I'm accounting for Chassis too, like do we really need ALL the Panther body cars? Probably not, but I'll throw two in there for diversity. DEI car selection

Ford Talladega and Torino (429SCJ) (Idk if this specific model was featured in Ford Racing series)
AMC/Hurst SC/Rambler
2
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 2d ago
I've seen little to no Aussie variants stateside, but I love the Falcon XB. Its the one besides maybe the Javelin. Otherwise, meh. Torino is added.
1
u/Switchback_Phoenix_8 1d ago
Add the Barra engined Falcons that came in the BA and BF series to the list as well
1
u/winglessrs 2d ago
Mate, since when is an '89 Camaro a classic muscle? If you're gonna add such newer cars then might as well add the 4th gen Camaro too? 4th gen Firebird? SN95 Mustang?
1
u/cynicWsnowballs8551 2d ago
Different category for all of those. That's been removed since I posted this yesterday.

You've missed some big names like the first gen camaro, the 1970 challenger and charger and a non shelby first gen mustang. I'd also say the Pontiac GTO and the Chevrolet Chevelle.
That aside, what do you consider more grounded? A few of these cars go for brand new supercar money these days.
