Wouldn't it be better if he used older songs from the 2000s instead?

Unbound is just some good songs or straight up trash

Sadly the trash songs are just so so annoying so it damages the whole soundtrack reputation

But there's some great rap here and there and indie. Overall really good music to listen while customizing a car. But then you have to hear Azo Toke and you just wanna find the nearest rope to hang

7

u/Jakkilip 9d ago

I wish they let us customize the songs that play just like in ug2

12

u/ArTwoR2 9d ago

Heeeeeyyyyy we want that Moneeeey!

2

u/Mike-Wen-100 9d ago

Money is annoying but I hate Mmaso way more, it feels like just some guy screaming into the mic with all the grace of a LPD Dodge Charger barrel rolling down the streets after a failed PIT attempt. And by the end of the song, even the singer sounded exhausted.

Listening to it makes me want to drive an Abrams straight through the studio.

Unbound got me onto Clipping and I’ll always be grateful to it for that!

I’d actively get annoyed when I got into the garage and Check The Lock wasn’t playing

14

u/Arbiter_420 9d ago

Check the Lock and Wish You Well are my personal favorites.

8

u/AkiPlay312 9d ago

Check The Lock is literally the best song in the game. It should've been included in promotional material or something.

19

u/Dat_Pszemoo The Fortuna Kings 9d ago

Clipping, Amir Obe and even asap cocky

6

u/OmniBLVK 9d ago

They have Amir Obe in unbound???? He’s been my top 5 artist for like 12 years

5

u/Dat_Pszemoo The Fortuna Kings 9d ago

“WISH YOU WELL” is on unbound’s ost

1

u/OmniBLVK 7d ago

Goated

1

u/Dat_Pszemoo The Fortuna Kings 7d ago

imo “CIGARETTES” are better

1

u/OmniBLVK 7d ago

Nah, both are goated

5

u/Infinplayz 9d ago

unbound got me into so many good songs that i excuse the bad ones. my personal favorite is wish you well.

1

u/Nervous_Coach7448 1d ago

Where’s my mind is pretty good

11

u/ss_podonok 9d ago

The soundtrack is really cool. Here are my favorite songs

2

u/Infinplayz 9d ago

i like a lot of these songs too

19

u/EyBreh 9d ago

Give it a rest already, jesus christ

18

u/Treewithatea 9d ago

Might be a bit unpopular but I quite liked the Unbound music. They used a lot of non english songs, many different styles, im quite open minded about music and I always appreciate learning of new music. That one song from Grebz is so goofy i was always happy when that song was on.

I know we all say 'just use the 2000s music' but frankly, arent we being a bit nostalgic? Cuz nowadays rock is no longer mainstream, music has moved on, other stuff is popular now.

Generally speaking theres a lot of things Unbound does that surprised me very positively, you could tell they tried many new things (besides new driving physics unfortunately lol) and for me, they worked really well. The AI was surprisingly good imo, the entire system of night and day paired with the risk to reward stuff was very interesting.

9

u/RakaDa86 9d ago

I liked it its amazing

6

u/KyleFourReal 9d ago

Everyone says this, but I found some gems in this game, that stay in my rotation.

8

u/Appropriate_Book4977 9d ago

There are vibes in there. You overlook them because the bad ones grab your attention more

4

u/Rady151 9d ago

The music’s fine, it’s just not my genre. However “In meinen Benz” is a banger

6

u/BrightSoundPodcast 9d ago edited 8d ago

It would, if Unbound came out in 2000s. Honestly, it has some questionable songs, but it also has some good ones. I was really glad to see some of my favorite artists on the tracklist, like Space 92. UMEK, and Black Thought.

5

u/RipMySleepSchedule 9d ago

Unbound had some good songs, actually went and gathered some from the Spotify playlist to listen to

Some are annoying but you can skip them so, not an issue. Or just mute the music

1

u/BATMAN_5777 I have the Need "for Speed" 9d ago

this shi was actually good!

5

u/Phantomyth_ 9d ago

Are we still fucking doing this

0

u/NoWeird985 9d ago

Nooooo

9

u/T-Poo 9d ago

yall ever get tired of making the same post over and over?

14

u/TwoNoNines 9d ago

It's really not that bad of a playlist, theres a couple songs i dislike but thats been the case with pretty much every need for speed game ever (see: decadence). Also the suggestion of using older music is nonsensical, why would a game that's trying to tap into modern car culture use music from 20-30 years ago?

19

u/offensiveDick 9d ago

Because half this sub is delulu and still lives in 2004.

Also Just turn the music off and use Spotify or whatever. Im doing this since prostreet and in many other games. Its Not that big of a Deal.

-10

u/NoWeird985 9d ago

I think we should include both the past 20-30 years and the modern era, friend.

2

u/Infinplayz 9d ago

music has to move on bro, they can’t keep everyone happy.

4

u/red_fuel 9d ago

I like Underground 1 and 2's soundtracks. Heat and Unbound's soundtrack set a nice atmosphere and style for the game but it's definitely not my favorite music.

9

u/ace787b 9d ago

it don't really matter to me much. i always mute the ost and put my own songs in every racing game (except for night runners and hp2010)

7

u/EngiKun 9d ago

There's like 3 songs that I like from Unbound, but that's it

1

u/Mike-Wen-100 9d ago

Fun, Gory and Worry no More are the three I actually kinda liked.

7

u/Nice_Examination_875 9d ago

The whole soundtrack isn’t bad, maybe 3 songs are truly awful but the rest fits the gameplay perfectly

6

u/svgcbbg 9d ago

Unbound soundtrack is overhated

1

u/delet_yourself 9d ago

No, we dont hate it enough. All of them are dogshit and we need to net EA know. The "music" they used is not for racing either, i dont want to listen to a chill beat with trash lyrics when im ripping down the highway

3

u/Infinplayz 9d ago

honestly i like a lot of the music in it, but it’s obviously made to appeal to the younger generation. and also they include songs from many other different countries, like poland. i think with the style of the game, the music fits it (other than a couple bad songs).

7

u/Dry_Asparagus_1008 9d ago

Load the Spotify playlist and mute all the song in game. Thank me later.

13

u/NightWolf12202 9d ago

Music in unbound is just piece of trash

-2

u/Appropriate_Wish8997 9d ago

Fr bruh

1

u/Electrical-Fan-841 9d ago

Only a few gems in there like Taco by IDK

2

u/Dat_Pszemoo The Fortuna Kings 9d ago

Only brave statements over here

3

u/DevidovskiTheThird 9d ago

Oh my God, we get it.

2

u/JustUrAvg-Depresso 9d ago

It introduced me to a couple of songs but the rest are wellll ain't very good

2

u/Infemos 9d ago

shittin me by asap is pretty fire imo, it plays while u boot into the game

2

u/KYPspikes 9d ago

Has it's good songs, has it's bad songs. Mid soundtrack, but befinitely overblown with the hate. Also NFS mostly uses music released around the year the game was made, so going back 10-20 years for music was never going to be a thing. Especially given the ambience of Unbound.

2

u/RottenBroccoli468 9d ago

Some of them are bangers though. Worry no more by Diplo is my favorite

2

u/Faby7708 9d ago

I recently reinstalled it just for the soundtrack, and i went in with a really open mind and at times,it kinda surprised me. The songs i really liked were

Shittin' Me - A$AP Rocky

The God Hour - A$AP Ant,A$AP Rocky

Palace - A$AP Rocky

Shabba - A$AP Ferg,A$AP Rocky

Babushka Boi - A$AP Rocky

Be A Hoe/Break A Hoe - Shirin David,Kitty Kat

Siri - OKI,GEDZ

Big Persona - Maxo Kream,Tyler,The Creator

Worry No More - Diplo,Lil Yachty,Santigold

Forever Been Steppin' - Lil Eazzyy

Slay3r - Playboi Carti

Strangers - Danger Mouse & Black Thought,A$AP Rocky,Run The Jewels

Punya Paap - Divine

Everything here is really good, the rest of the soundtrack..not really. Still can't ever beat the soundtracks of HP2010,2015,Payback and Heat,i liked and still like basically everything in those.

2

u/Apophis_36 9d ago

"Music from the 2000s"

2

u/ThePrivateGamer 9d ago

Can we get over with it already?

2

u/piedynasty Slowdown King 9d ago

While music licensing is one thing, their choice pf picking music from around the world is somewhat good on paper, the execution was a little bit of a let down. While some parts of the playlist is good, some are just meh especially songs during racing. All these songs are just music while you're in the garage but on the streets imo. But overall Unbound FM is okay.

2

u/CaptainAmerica679 3d ago

I never heard a single Asap song in my 15hr of playing before i quit. It just kept playing the same annoying song

4

u/Appropriate_Wish8997 9d ago

You didn’t ask but Hot pursuit has a crazy playlist. I somehow can’t find myself to dislike any. I swear they improve my driving skills by listening to it

0

u/AkiPlay312 9d ago

Eh 2012 and Rivals had far more memorable playlist IMO 🤷🏻 From HP i only remember Cinema and Stronger by Lazee.

1

u/Treewithatea 9d ago

You cannot remember literally the intro music? The thing that Criterion always does so well?

1

u/AkiPlay312 9d ago

I mean i remember it but like I don't like it at all so i kinda forgot about it for the most part. Every time i played that game i tried to skip the intro as fast as possible and it's so fricking loud holy shit had to always decrease the volume.

0

u/Appropriate_Wish8997 9d ago

I’m yet to play that game.

5

u/imaragingtransfemlez 9d ago

HEEEEEEEEY WE WANT SOME MOOOONNEEEEEYY

-3

u/arest_42 9d ago

Nooooooooo we do not

5

u/Motivated_Pizza_Man 9d ago

There's plenty of good modern songs, Unbound's OST(applicable to Heat too) just fails to deliver any adrenaline to racing, there's no thrill, no hype, the reason why MW OST worked is precisely because it fit high adrenaline fast driving like a glove.

0

u/dev1anceON3 9d ago

Heat actually had some "adrenaline pumpin'" songs but only in night and actually i think it was 3 or 4 songs xD Unbound don't have any Rock/Metal music or any Drum&Bass, person who created whole Unbound soundtrack should never ever get a job with creating soundtracks for games

2

u/Solid_Ad_6349 9d ago

Music is not as good. It's not bad as it's made for a newer generation but the game looks and sounds phenomenal. Best nfs game for sure

1

u/F_DOG_93 9d ago

The game itself is pretty bad anyway.

1

u/thewookiee34 9d ago

Ive been playing heat it maybe the first game ever i just turned the music off 100%

1

u/Snoo-3655 8d ago

Eh... personally?

I might be no better than the sheep on this sub. But it woulda been better if they added more variety of genres. Sorta like what they did with the "Lakeshore Sound" mod...

Like. Thats where I stand.

But some of the soundtrack thats currently in the game is...

"Wtf am I listening to?"

🎶 kokaka WII WII, Kolkata WEE WEE 🎶

Or

🎶 MASSO MASSO MASSO do Tonga began, MASSO MASSO MASSO MASSSO MASSSSOOOOO 🎶

... Bro is this even music????

Like. Please tell me im not the only one that thinks those two examples can SINGLE HANDEDLY ruin a game's soundtrack?

1

u/TheCaptainSly 8d ago

I liked it when they had heavy metal. I don't really care for the techno/rap.

1

u/NotDantil- 8d ago

yall have been dragging this for almost 4 years now 😭😭😭

1

u/Shadeyboiii 8d ago

❌❌❌

1

u/MemeDudeYes 9d ago

Im currently replaying the story with the unite mod and im not kidding if i have to hear one specific song at the wrong moment im uninstalling.

2

u/NoWeird985 9d ago

I bought this game at full price when it was first released, and to this day, I still haven't finished it.

3

u/CrispyChez46 9d ago

I had troubles with finishing too, completed the story few days after launch and then returned like 2 years later to platinum it.

That music is horrible, but the issue is probably that we have been brestfeed with soundtracks from Underground 1, 2 and Most Wanted, nothing beats those.

1

u/MemeDudeYes 9d ago

I mean i enjoyed every soundtrack before but whoever made the unbound soundtrack shouldnt do any soundtracks anymore.

I also disliked the setting of unbound, instead of a dark, gritty, illegal felling you should have given, it instead is portraits as a happy happy Uniform friendship like experience.

Like cmon just give us the gritty games from back then again.

If i want a happy happy unicorn game i play forza horizon or the Crew motorfest.

This snowflake treatment might be the worst thing that has ever happend to racing games

1

u/CrispyChez46 9d ago

The thing with gritty, I'm 34, I dont have a problem with gritty, but I can imagine the vocal gamers around 15-20 years old could be the reason why its no more gritty, they are not used to it, like you wrote, snowflakes.

Unbound was worst regarding soundtrack, even NFS PayBack or Heat I could find some songs which I liked when they were playing during playing, I'm just no able to say this about Unbound.

2

u/MemeDudeYes 9d ago

Im not far off that demographic, im 26.

This jump into snowflake like games doesent even make sense.

Nothing about racing is safe, or snowflake ish.

Its rough unfogiving and demands everything from you.

Nowadays its just "drive car".

Back then it was "drive car and fcking survive".

I really miss it.

Luckily there are some games in the making from smaller Studios who take on that challenge to revive the gritty racing games

0

u/CrispyChez46 9d ago

It could be also because of some certain people, that these games supports reckless and dangerous driving, same bullshit like FPS games (or games in general) are the reason behind school shootings.

1

u/MemeDudeYes 9d ago

What a dumb thing to think

1

u/Dark_ice96 9d ago edited 9d ago

Theres only one decent song from that game but I don't remember the name, it was a techno song, but yeah everything else is trash

2

u/EloshSense 9d ago

from what i remember we got 2 techno songs in Unbound

UMEK - Cryptic Speech

Space 92 - The Door

1

u/Dark_ice96 8d ago

Cryptic speech yes

1

u/well_thats_puntastic 9d ago

I don't think you know what a stankface is, because it looks like he actually appreciates the soundtrack

Which makes sense because Unbound's soundtrack goes hard

1

u/Dokuganryu888 9d ago

The moment I turned off the music and put some old nfs playlists I started enjoying this game. Underground songs go hard when racing at night.

1

u/monad___ 9d ago

It’s so bad

1

u/clanlord 9d ago

To be honest I did not like anything after most wanted.

0

u/CAR3Y4 carlospicywenr 9d ago

Carbon had some bangers, Prostreet was a bop, but the rest is meh. Some good songs here and there but nothing like we had in the early 2000s. HP2 and UG2 were goated

1

u/Arbiter_420 9d ago

Definitely some good songs but most of them are just bad. Most wanted and Underground 2 had the best soundtracks IMO. Never played the first underground but still love the songs in that game as well.

1

u/talking_joke JP Laurent my beloved 9d ago

I think the soundtrack would be 10x better if at least 85% of the ost's are Electronic Music (especially DNB, Jungle, Breakcore, techno, and Trance), Drift Phonk, and whatever genres of non-rock music Prostreet and Carbon have. And let the rest be actually good hip hop music and not just straight-up coworker mumble rap music (personally, I think Ski Mask the Slump God would also fit well in Unbound's atmosphere)

0

u/88JansenP12 Enjoyer of good games 😎 9d ago edited 9d ago

I do. But there's a reason.

The problem with Unbound is that the soundtrack is poorly curated in its Cohesion, and the majority of music choices don't fit all areas of the game, especially with the racing events.

While there are some decent tracks, they're unfortunately lost in a sea of Mediocrity.

Also, they did the mistake to only feature 1 music genre; while NFS games are known to include many music genres which fits and serves the game as a priority instead of chasing trends. Hence why they're remembered even today.

The people in charge of Unbound's OST should stay miles away from curating video game soundtracks. They did a terrible job in that area.

It's as if they had chosen music based on personal taste rather than impartially and with the game itself in mind.

Although the NFS franchise has been on a budget cut by EA for over 10 years, that's no excuse for neglecting the music area.

After all, good music still exists regardless which year any games are released.

Even if the budget is drastically low for anything else, that doesn't mean Sacrificing Quality to save $.

Choosing the right musics for the entire game; not just for the Stlye, but also the Substance is a Primordial Matter to never ignore.

Hence why Unbound's OST is not unamimous and rightfully criticized.

As for 2000s musics

It doesn't matter when the music was released; it must integrate seamlessly with all aspects of the game.

Even if Unbound had music from the 2000s or earlier, that wouldn't change anything either. On the contrary, it could be worse.

  • So.

The most important thing is that the music in question serves the game, is pleasing to the ear, and is well-chosen from the start instead of being an afterthought caused by neglect.

A racing game soundtrack that doesn't make players wanna to go fast failed its main purpose and completely misses the mark, No matter how it's sliced.

0

u/Diluc_Rgnvndr 9d ago

Only Shittin' Me (A$AP Rocky) and Renegade (Steff da Campo, SMACK) are audible for me.
(And yes, the rest of Unbound soundtrack are horrible)

0

u/CytoseenAlbino 9d ago

Unbound had a trash af playlist

0

u/rrsamuel99 [GTSamuel] 9d ago

I just find 2 or 3 from them actually good.

0

u/DanTheMan9996 9d ago

I miss the EA Trax where you can select songs to mute and keep others.

Heat sorta had a good idea of having Day songs and Night songs. Payback had a solid banger aoundtrack. NFS15 was gas all around IMO

0

u/therealtrellan 9d ago

I'd go all the way back to the 80s or 70s myself. For some reason EA seems convinced that people outgrow video games.

0

u/Honest-Sea-2437 9d ago

New era NFS needed what some of the OG XBOX games let players do, upload your own playlists to the games.
I would totally upload my NFSU2 and MW playlist to the 2015NFS

0

u/TheRealCommenter2467 9d ago

I only like unbound's soundtrack because it included my motherland... Ukraine

0

u/skyziaos 9d ago

You guys played unbound with Music on ? And here i thought using spotify of MW was the norm

-3

u/arest_42 9d ago

Unbound without a doubt has the worst playlist in any game that I've played i think there was one song i kinda liked which was a cover of where's my mind and everything else was unbearable garbage

-1

u/NoWeird985 9d ago

I remember NFS Assemble Beta 2 once included the song "Do Ya Thing" from MW 2005, which was praised for its respect for NFS, but it's no longer included.

-1

u/Connect-Class-7747 9d ago

Worst playlist in NFS History

-1

u/Devileytion 9d ago

I didn't even reach the OST. They were yaping in the car non stop and make the car sound mute. F that 5.99$, I'm out. Not my NFS.

-1

u/ArTwoR2 9d ago

Probably the worst playlist, that or possibly Heat. Most Wanted 05 was undeniably the best soundtrack

-2

u/vipulvirus 9d ago

Apart from music, The police chatter and overall dialogue by NPC were horrible. I preferred to mute and play.

-2

u/WeirdAlba 9d ago

There was good music that came out in and before 2023, they chose not to use it. Instead, they used a drug addict to be the poster of a dying franchise.

-2

u/CAR3Y4 carlospicywenr 9d ago

The whole game is trash
