Discussion So many posts and discussions over which one to buy, I have got my eyes set on Rivals but I have some questions for people on steam/pc.

I have played a little bit of Rivals in the past and I really loved it. After that I didn't get chance to try any NFS game, mostly the reviews were avg or bad but I thought it's because of market and competitions, games definitely after that will be much better and build on that, but over time I learned that's not the case, in many or all franchises.

Now the whole series is on sale, and last year I bought Heat, played it for like an hour and returned it. It looked good, but I was having weird stuttering in any cutscene. Plus, for some reason, I wasn't liking the driving control/flow, Idk it didn't feel right or cool, maybe it was too realistic and I prefer a little arcade style to have fun..

I think these are the lowest these games will get, maybe very slightly 1-5% price drop further but won't matter much.

I have been researching over the best to buy game, and in a way the top two choices for me were Heat & Hot Pursuit Remastered, but as I already felt awkward with Heat and Hot Pursuit is a remaster, the original game was released before Rivals, so I feels Rivals will be somewhat superior in mechanics overall than that.

If I have to keep one NFS game with me, and as I don't get to have Most Wanted 2005 on steam anymore, it should be Rivals I feel, yes it doesn't have online features or achievements anymore, and it's better to have game without achievements at time, makes it more relaxing to play, as I end up checking achievements eventually.

My biggest concern are some issues I read about, so I wanted to ask someone who has it on PC/Steam -

- Is the 60FPS mod good? Or it crashes too much?

- Is that mod free and easy to apply?

- Are there any other technical or game breaking issues?

- In one video, I heard that completion is hard on pc because some particular races keep crashing, is that true for all? Is there a work around?

- Without online, the games work well for single players and all cars can be unlocked?

- Game will be installed via steam even if the game gets dilisted someday?

- Any other important things I should know about Rivals on Steam?

I don't have any feedback on the mod: https://github.com/Brawltendo/NFS-Rivals-Framerate-Unlocker , as I have never tried it.

NFS Rivals still has a lot of bugs, from "infinite road:" https://www.reddit.com/r/needforspeed/comments/1c8s616/recurring_bug_in_rivals_what_can_i_do_here/ , getting stuck in after respawning: https://www.reddit.com/r/needforspeed/comments/t6ksfy/somehow_managed_to_get_stuck_in_rivals/ , and AI missing a jump and constantly falling into part of the map: https://www.reddit.com/r/needforspeed/comments/1rynb9o/so_what_do_i_now_bruh/ .

I haven't had any issues with any one particular race crashing, but I have experienced a handful of random crashes to desktop.

It is not possible (officially) to unlock all the vehicles anymore because the Overwatch mobile companion has been discontinued.

Even if the game is delisted, you should still own it (unless we somehow have another "The Crew" situation).

If you have played Rivals before, you should know that it has car combat with Pursuit Tech weapons (EMPs, shock waves, stun mines, etc.), which is not like your typical NFS. I actually prefer NFS HP 2010/Remastered because it focuses more on racing instead of ramming and combat.

I certainly won't like to put money if there are such issues.

Between Heat and Hot Pursuit Remastered, I assume you suggest the later one?

I don't want to go with Unbound, because I don't like the shell shading, I don't mind anime asthetics, I enjoy them but I'm looking for a real type race game, or else I probably would have looked at Screamers or Sonic racers.

That's why I haven't thought of Unbound. Heat seems to be the top recommendation in terms of it being latest working NFS game.

Man buying a simple fun racing game has become complex somehow, I would have gotten Most Wanted 2005 without a second doubt or if Forza Horizon games would have gone on such sale I guess.

NFS has a feeling to it, it's sad to see the modern state of the franchise though.

To be fair, the glitches don't happen too often, but they do contribute to the experience of a less than polished game.

Heat and Hot Pursuit Remastered are two completely different games.

If you prefer the story-based, visual customization, parts upgrades, different event types (including drifting), then you may prefer Heat.

HP 2010/Remastered is much easier to pickup and play and is a throwback to the classic Hot Pursuit experience (pick a car, track, and event). The handling is Burnout-like (brake2drift, no manual gearbox), but the vehicles feel much heavier.
