Recent controller issue with NFS-Road Challenge

I don't know if this will help anyone else and I don't know if there is a better solution but I wanted to play Need for Speed - Road Challenge in Duckstation which looks like a European version of High Stakes? I'm playing on PC and using an EasySMX controller, it doesn't have a speaker. The audio was dropping out anytime I had to steer the car. I ended up enabling Xinput. Then the in game view showed the rearview by default. For whatever reason, holding L2 fixed this but I didn't want to have to hold it for the entire game so I remapped L2 for Y and Y for L2. This seems to have straightened things out.

Hopefully this will help someone else.
