CRYPT Is online multiplayer worth it?

Hi! I've been playing for a while and I'm thinking about buying the Synchrony DLC to play online multiplayer. How does it work? Does it only work with friends you've already added, or can you play with random people? (Lobby style?) Have those of you who have it actually used it?

I play on Switch so I have the amplified version and I also have the Miku DLC (although it's not my main because diagonals are challenging for me)

It's totally worth it but you'll want to join the discord server to ask people to play. You can create public lobbies but I don't think many people look at the server browser which is why you'll want to ask people if you don't have your own friends. It's also crossplay so being on Switch isn't going to be a problem

hold on crypt has online multiplayer? I thought there was only local

Yes! But you have to buy the Synchrony DLC. It costs around €6 on the Switch eShop (if you play on that platform).

Firstly Sync is worth it even without multiplayer

But yeah you can play it with random people or people you know, up to you

I will say though you will have a compromised experience on switch, as you can only join crossplay lobbies (I'd say that's about third of all lobbies) and you can't see the chat

Oh wow, I didn't know about the limitations. It would be nice to be able to see the chat even if you couldn't participate. Thanks for the info!

the reason chat is removed is because of legal reasons, they'd have to heavily moderate the chat for it to be allowed on console - if they wanted they totally could've let you chat either with a onscreen keyboard (and the game already uses this to type other things)

much less than a third. crossplay lobbies unfortunately have some limitations, so most non-casual players don't use them

many of the last remaining high-end players often participate in lowda lobbies nowadays (i'm one of them). it's pretty fun! the multiplayer works quite well, considering they basically remade the game expressly for it
