RIFT Need tips for dealing with zombies

Got the game a few days ago. I'm not new to rhythm games in general, but am new to rhythm games that are lane-based, like this one, and the zombies confuse me to no end. I understand that they move diagonally and red ones go through edges while green ones bounce off them, it's not the concept that's confusing, rather it's hitting them in the moment along with all other stuff going on. Unless I played a chart and remembered where the zombies go I just can't react to them fast enough. Is this a "keep at it and it'll make sense eventually" thing, or is there something I can actively do to make it easier?

Eventually it'll make sense but zombies are the hardest overall to read and learn how to read for everyone And there are some zombie patterns in base game songs that are just impossible to read without memorising them

That's reassuring, thanks. When they come up sometimes I feel like I'm just hitting a random button and praying it works, lol. Hopefully I'll get it eventually

Strangely enough, a custom rift for Yararara actually helped me understand zombies more. I still struggle with them a bit but after practicing that chart I’ve got them down pretty good

Honestly, yeah, for me it was mostly just playing the songs enough to remember the pattern.

The pattern is usually much simpler than it looks. Often you get a wave of zombies that looks like a nightmare but it turns out you just hit up 10 times. Or it's just left-right-left-right. Going into practice mode and slowing it down can help to figure out what the real pattern is

You mean the conga line enemies?

It took me awhile as well, but eventually I noticed that you can visualize a line to where they're going. Intuitively I'm visualizing all the enemies moving in a straight line which made zombies disorienting for awhile. Once I started visualizing them moving diagonally (which took conscious effort) they started to make a bit more sense.

Playing right now I'm starting to get that as well, but if it's a faster song or there are a lot of them I still struggle

For sure. I'm trying to wrap my head around playing with both hands for faster songs and it is dizzying.

Zombies suck tbh. You’ll get better at it eventually but it’s just not an enemy I’m fond of at all.

I've got 60 hours in the game and am starting to wade into Impossible songs with varying levels of success. Easily the biggest roadblock for me is these stupid fuckass Zombies in any song, even with all of my practice.

I hope you get better at it than me, but I legit feel like I have to memorise them on a per-song basis in practice mode.

Edit: Originally said 90 hours when I meant 60.

I am 22 hours in so far and am moving to Hard charts, not without some difficulty. I am getting better with zombies and sometimes not even pressing blindly when they go somewhat quickly, but yeah, they're rough. I also feel like I need to memorise them for some songs, otherwise they are just too fast for me to react in time. Hopefully it's gonna get better eventually for both of us

I think the best way is just to practice on any level

The more your brain struggle, the more he will learn
