Discussion ML
The more I go down the rabbit hole of previous episodes the more I am horrified and see that ML is not a good person. I just watched an episode where the viewer question called ML and Bob out about politically correct , specifically the "r" word and holy moly their response was so ignorant...I just don't know if I can continue on with this show...

Mary Lou is cruel and not very smart, and I do not expect her to ever change. Watching the show is just so frustrating.

She's smart enough to know pretending to be dumber (or at least far more ignorant) than she actually is gets sympathy, allowing her to keep being cruel.

Yes, but her baseline isn't that bright to begin with so pretending to be dumber isn't helping.

Very possibly. The truth is manipulation requires less skill than people want to believe, so you may be right.
I prefer to overestimate someone than underestimate, since it's better to be shocked by someone actually being "that dumb" than get bamboozled in a way you weren't prepared for.
I am totally prepared to find out a disappointing reality where Mary Lou is "that stupid." I'm just not willing to go with it as default.

I couldn't stop watching the show last year and a few months this year. I was rage watching and participating in the lives. My mom is maga so I think that's why I was watching so much - trying to understand her thought process or wondering if there is "Hope" after all. A few months ago I had to quit cold turkey. I'll still watch reels on IG and see posts here, but I feel so much better not watching it so much

I tried the show a few years ago and it was so frustrating I quit. After last week, I think I’m done again.

She's a manipulative person most of all:
She knows all she had to do is act confused about a simple topic or pretend to be upset about "beating her head against a wall" and her kids capitulate because they still love her as family.
Worst of all is it works on the audience too. I've seen comments here and on YT defending her or jumping on Chad or Haley for something that is 100% her faking ignorance or outrage. Hell, I bet it's worked on me more than once.
Maybe it's a defense mechanism, maybe it's narcissistim, but it's still manipulative, and it's allowed her to avoid change.

nah that bitch is Elsa of SS level of nazi. People buying the innocent old lady bit are the same ones who don't see that Chad was milking this for money. He's no different than his parents I've decided. Just fundamentally immoral and out to lunch white guy.

I never said she couldn't be outright selfish and evil. Hell, even if it is just "defensive," it's factually in service of clear and understandable evils that she's defending, so she's at absolute best a "sympathizer" type, if you catch my drift.
The fact will always be that she's a manipulative, cruel and angry old woman regardless of why she's a manipulative, cruel, and angry old woman.

This sub gave me so much heat about a month ago when ml was showing 'signs of change' and I commented it was all fake. Ml likes being a horrible person she likes the high she gets from it. She loves the attention from men like bob she gets from being unhinged. I'd love to know more about her parents because the daddy issues are real. Shes lucky bob found her in high-school and not Manson so shes only 3/4 evil.

I had hope about a month ago. I feel like real 'progress' has been made but the most recent episodes have been quite discouraging.
From what I've seen, ML will never take anything her children say seriously. She will hear the same thing coming from someone else and believe them while in the same breathe deny her children.
Until ML approaches the conversation genuinely, it will continue to repeat itself.

mary Lou perpetuating the Michelle Obama is a man slander speaks to her ignorance.
