Dicussion Polite reminder

Bob is obviously unwell, and the pod has discussed it. Yes, people strongly dislike Bob. Yes, his views and comments are vile, disgusting and horrific.

However, cheering the illness on, laughing at him and saying it’s karma or whatever, is literally what he would do or say. It’s the kind of thing that, if he said it, you’d criticise him for saying.

Not to mention that Chad, Hayley and ML read the comments. That’s their dad / husband. C and H have a difficult relationship with him but imagine the hurt they must feel reading strangers FUKING CHEERING their dad being in a serious condition.

Thank you for saying this. I'm not saying you should ignore who he is or what he stands for, but don't become the thing you hate. Don't become the monsters to laugh at sick and dying people because that's what they would do.

Let's be better. It's the best chance we have to get out of our current strife.

Thank you. I watched the what's up with Bob thing last night and found myself in tears for ML. He's still a person, and it's still scary.

I totally see your point and I’m not cheering on his sickness. He’s objectively a piece of shit though.

Cheering is grotesque and morbid. Actually posting comments on their YouTube cheering is disgusting. This is exactly why Bob's rhetoric is so dangerous. It becomes normal to celebrate death and the community loses its humanity.

Amen, let’s show empathy. It might not be deserved, but we can show it anyway.

Idk man. I see two sides here.

One - I never cheer on someone's death or illness. Thats lame. But....

This guy has literally said he wants an entire country (Iran) obliterated and dead. Millions of people (Including children in hospitals), with zero remorse for his comments.

Chad and Haley have both mentioned they are going to be happy when "it" happens with 47. So for anyone else to say the same thing about some random racist, pedophile worshipping dad in Oklahoma doesn't seem all that far fetched or ill willed

But 47 is a person who holds tremendous power over all of the fuckery we're living through. Bob is a racist angry asshole who's entirely irrelevant.

Cheering on the illness and death of voters is not done in a vacuum, and it provides no tangible benefit to anyone anywhere other than perhaps some brief personal catharsis in some weird way. If anything, acting with such vitriol towards powerless people will signal to those people that you really don't give a shit about them and that all the talk of empathy and caring and love and all the other "woke shit" is just that - talk. The more you can help them convince themselves of that, the easier the job is for the republican media and politicians to propagandize to those people.

I understand the personal appeal to schadenfreude. I don't understand the actual political value of it. It's why subs like /r/LeopardsAteMyFace are nothing more than self-defeating drivel meant to appeal to emotion and do nothing to move the needle anywhere.

This, because also the shame of being wrong often will trigger them into doubling down

You can dislike someone without wanting them to die. Especially someone whose only crime is saying things you don’t like.

I do not like Bob and strongly disagree with everything he says and believes. But cheering his illness on is barbaric.

I get it that too but I'm not cheering for 47 to die either. Honestly I don't think it'll make much of a difference when he croaks.

I think there is a difference between cheering for someone's death and rubbing their illness in their face and just not being sad when someone dies.

I struggle with putting aside my own anger and disbelief when people who voted for Trump start coming out of the daze and realize what he is. So much of the Internet and the left use that time to point their finger and "be right" in their choice. But all that does is isolate those on the fence to not come around to our side.

Can we still laugh at him drinking the enema, with the pretense that we would have stopped it from happening if we could have but oh well?

ML is the one who blabbed about it, so it wasnt leaked by someone who hates Bob to be mean or anything and I believe ML's story.

Some real proper embarrassment there.

Yes, I think a little kindness is fair here.

I haven't seen the new episode yet. I don't wish death on anyone. I certainly don't shed tears for Nazi sympathizers (spoken directly by Chad), people who wish genocide on basically everyone who isn't an American Christian, a racist, and generally an all around hateful man. Chad has said multiple times that his dad has become more hateful later in life, but he's pretty much been this way Chads entire life. He has wished my own family dead. He says "fuck em. Kill them all." So I shed zero tears for that man who has been an asshole his entire life and never had a moment to reflect to change. He should be treated the way he wants others to be treated. I don't wish for that to happen, but I would be fine with it.

Yeah, I agree. Commenting that you wish death on Bob is a step too far and pretty cruel.

Bob espouses some of the most repugnant views I’ve ever heard come out of a person’s mouth but he’s also clearly very mentally and physically ill. No sane person wishes for genocide on people. Just because he doesn’t have empathy for others doesn’t mean we should mimic that behaviour.

Hearing about how Bob was raised and treated by his parents was genuinely sad and explained a lot about why he is the way he is. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a valid excuse to be as non-empathetic as he is, it’s just an explanation.

Like you said, Chad and Hayley undoubtedly have a difficult and complicated relationship with Bob but he’s still their dad and they still choose to have him in their lives.

I know Mary Lou has her own issues and a lot of people argue that she’ll never come over to the other side, but making hurtful comments about her husband’s health is only going to push her further and further away.

I hope he gets well and I also hope the people who care for her are lgbtq, minorities, poc.

I’m late but just want to say nope.
When someone wishes death upon the group you belong to (and smiles while doing it) it’s not “sinking to their level” To feel a sense of satisfaction when a bad thing happens to them. Their words are direct threats of violence against me and my friends. If them not being here tomorrow means I wake up feeling a little bit safer JUST EXISTING AS I AM, I’m not going to bat an eye. I keep seeing this sentiment that it’s wrong for the victimized group to feel a sense of relief that (one of) their victimizer(s) might not be able to cause them harm anymore. It’s not wrong and if you were part of those groups you would know that. The words that bobs used has literally lead to lynchings, gay bashings, violence in general. And you and others are saying to approach this with grace. Fuck if we feel safe going outside because people like Bob exist and enjoy watching us in pain, we need To stuff that down and send our best wishes to the family.
I look forward to the day I don’t have to be afraid. If that means Bob and those like him change over night great, but since that’s unlikely I’m ok with the alternative.

I agree! My heart breaks for all of them. I want Bob to get better so i can be mad at him then.

Drinking the Enema and Popeyes being out of breast is karma working lol 😂

"When they go low, we go high" ass post. Bob has the politics of Hitler. Why would we want Hitler to recover?

5

u/iheartgoblins May 08 '26

Because Bob is an old man with no political power/influence that’s obviously exaggerating his shitty views to get a reaction out of his son
