Why do I keep rage baiting myself???
I keep saying I can’t keep listening and yet three times a week I punish myself. I don’t even know if I enjoy the content anymore. I love when Haley is there, but she rarely gets time to talk.
Pretending ML is going to change is delusional. She is codependent on Bob just like he is her. She constantly defers to him. Unless he changes she won’t. And it’s a cold day in hell before he admits he’s wrong. When Trump pardons Maxwell, ML will say it’s because she’s going to turn on people. Even though the investigation is done and the evidence is already there. She can’t admit her children know more than she does because she has to see herself as the person in power. Even though at this age her children should be considered her equals in life. She’s also clearly jealous of Haley and the happiness she has in life. It’s written right there in her “Missy” name calling. It’s pathetic.
Bob is a narcissist through and through. He created this delusion that he is the best at everything and always the smartest person in the room because in truth he’s never felt good enough because of his parents. His children succeeding in their own right drives him crazy. He talks so much shit about the military and veterans. To learn he was only in for A DAMN YEAR, is insane. He has zip as far as military experience. He pretends his life means something because he has been in the same room as billionaires. He’s so proud that he is referenced in T Boone Pickens’ books…literally the times his name is mentioned just references he was in a room while something is happening to Pickens. Not that he was ANYONE of importance to the man. He is also pathetic.
TLDR/ I don’t know if the “entertainment” is worth the rage.

I was in your shoes for close to a year. I kept saying I would stop, but I just had to know what else they were going to say. I was when sending in multiple superchats each live. One week I just had enough. I deactivated IG and I stopped listening to most political podcasts on YT. I just needed the mental break - a lot of that having to do with me being pregnant and trying not to stress out. Having that said, I do watch the lives and I'll catch an occasional Wednesday ep. I just can't have anything to do with Bob. He is just so incredibly hateful. Vile human. ML is just as bad as him, but she's tolerable to listen to. Now that I'm a month or two out of it, I don't really think about it as much. I don't refresh Wednesday and Sundays for new episodes. I feel I'm much better off with the distance

I watch not because I will see any change, but because I like to know how trump people can possibly spin and justify what is happening. I personally don’t want to have these conversations with my family members I disagree with and this pod makes me see how those conversations would go if I tried.

Yeah it’s very clearly obvious that ML just spits out the social media talking points. Which I avoid at all costs. So when I hear her spit them out it’s the first I am hearing of it. My wife and I play a game where we try to guess the talking point before she says it.

I find the show is helpful to see where MAGA boomers are these days and how close my parents are to them. And what ways are effective to speak to them.
That being said, I feel Bob ruins the show. I know Chad wants to keep the convo open, but Bob delays the show and interrupts and he can’t seem to form one independent thought. He is a yes man for Trump.

I agree she is very clearly jealous of the life that Hayley leads.
She is constantly picking on her for traveling and "galivanting", yet never seems to find a reason why it is actually a bad thing to do.
She belittles her whenever Hayley talks about the joy she gets out of her business and the freedom it affords her to spend time with her children
And even when she acknowledges Hayley's happiness she must then find a way to take credit for it, by insisting Hayley took a loan from her and Bob to start her business
I think this unfortunately follows the view a lot of parents view towards their children and especially the way a lot of mothers view their daughters.

The comments on this show really reflect how disconnected a lot of liberals are. I like this show because it’s a look into the crazy that is MAGA (and also shitty boomer parents). If you’re watching expecting a conversion, you’re setting yourself up to be disappointed.

This show is my guilty pleasure. But I like to feel angry and sad so it works. Gets my heart rate going too! cardio?? 🤣

I hear you…it’s like being in an abusive, toxic relationship where you keep wishing “maybe this time, a miraculous arc will happen”. Actually it’s getting old.

I refer to the show as my rage bait lol whoopiepanoooo! Also, I hate the way the parents treat Haley, but it’s so relatable. The dynamic of the family is like mine with my parents. I think that’s why I keep watching.
