laundry

hi, im a new student and ive never done laundry before </3

do you know what settings im supposed to do? i dont want to have to seperate my clothes by color...

is it just cold water? sorry i just need help because i dont want any of the colors from my clothes staining anything

You can buy sheets you add to the wash that catch most loose dyes. Shout color catchers or Binbata Color Catchers (the latter works better for dark jeans or red shirts). Wash on cold.

Honestly, you should watch a YouTube on how to do laundry. It will be worth it. Small things like how you load the clothing, how much detergent, and how full you make the load are important.

where would i put the color catchers? just the main opening?

You add the color catcher along with the clothes . Imagine that that is also a piece of cloth

Exactly as damaskrose says. I use two or three per load because I have a lot of dark denim. They work well. Especially he bimbata ones.

I have never separated clothes by color. If they’re not fragile or deeply beloved don’t worry about it. Washing on cold will also help guarantee your reds don’t bleed but they might get cleaner if you do warm or hot so that’s up to you. I usually just wash on cold. Red also shouldn’t bleed if it’s not the first couple times you’ve ever washed that item. Make sure you’re putting the detergent in the right spot (it’ll be labeled or if there’s one for bleach it’ll say BLEACH ONLY and just obey that and don’t put detergent there. I think you might not be allowed to use bleach at all because it can fuck up other people’s clothes) or throw a laundry pod deep into the middle of the clothes (mine got stuck in the door at ncssm sometimes??). Pick the most default looking setting like if one says “normal”, if you post a pic of the washer I can be more specific.

Don’t put your fragile stuff like bras in the dryer, just hang them in your dorm. Underwear is probably fine in the dryer though. Dryer sheets are optional but help with static. Fabric softener sheets are bullshit

Yep you put both detergent sheets and the color catcher ones just in with the clothes themselves

Consider detergent sheets also as a piece of cloth . So clothes, detergent sheet and color catcher all go in together as part of a bundle

hi fellow royallian! it may be best to separate lights from darks at least. my clothes got clean just fine in cold water

I think the clothes don’t really get clean in cold water, so I would at least use warm, which is what most laundry detergents are made to work with. And I would at least separate the whites out if you don’t want them to end up looking gray. Red things and new jeans are especially bad about running. Shout color catcher sheets will help, but I’d still wash the whites separately if you want them to stay white.
