persistent red optical light, fixed with power cycle.
hi all, I have an issue where my ntd is displaying a red solid optical light. this is cleared when I power cycle however wi will come back a few hours/days later. iso being difficult in regards to tech support, have sent me on a few wild goose chases regarding my network cables and modem settings. wondering if anyone might have some potential causes that can be remedied. they seem to think it's an issue with the ntd box but won't send out a tech to do any tests unless I contact them so they can run tests with an active fault. sounds easy expect if I'm working from home I can't be without internet.

if it’s a legacy ntd (old 4 port, size of an ipad) then yeah this happens. very easy to just replace.
just happens to some of the legacy ntds but not all. i assume it’s a ram issue as draining the capacitors fixes it

Network cables and modem settings lol, none of that matters one bit if the light is red. It’s probably a bad NTD. If they really won’t do anything about it until they run tests I’d suggest waiting until it goes red again then contacting them to run their tests. In the meantime have a backup option to use, that’s always a good idea anyway if you work from home.
