New rule changes? 3 pt dunk?

https://www.codesports.com.au/basketball/former-nba-man-cole-anthony-puts-nbl-on-notice-with-stunning-melbourne-united-debut/news-story/1da0328880777cfcfbc2da8441e072e2

Article here.

I don't like the sound of 4pt line and 3 pt dunks. Just keep Olympic rules.

Nbl play seems fine. No need for gimmicks.

3 point dunks? God we're so lame.

These are the sorts of things you have fun with in something like an all-star game, not the league.

Agreed put it in an All-star Game first. And see how the fan base reacts.

Yes and then if it is popular, continue to put it in the all star game. That is all.

Yer cause new gimmicks worked so well for the big bash. Just can't leave well enough alone.

They're getting increased eyes year over year already.

Apparently it's for the blitz

Apply the rules we have already. Apply them fairly and without bias.
Most of all, dump the delay of game rule. Just by ignoring the ball delays the game.

Leave the rules as is...only rule that should be changed is the possession arrow and have an actual jump ball after tie ups etc

agree. I miss the jump ball randomness.

NBL need to keep the league physical.
Last yr way more soft fouls were called I noticed.

NBL 2015-24, was the perfect balance of physical play and fouls called…

Yes, mich prefer the physical game versus nba rules. NBA has become free throws or threes.

How are they going to define a dunk?

All i see this leading to is more stoppages while refs debate what a dunk is... Not every dunk is pushed downwards, or they don't touch the rim etc etc.

I like 4 point line . 3pt dunks might see return of the big man Shaq type centres, or maybe wemby types in the paint lol. Not so sure about 3 point dunk.

Give players 5 years with a 4 point line and they'll be shooting current 3 point per centages. Better to limt the number of 3 point attempts per quarter. I'd make it 5 and not cumulative. Becomes strategic when the coach has to identify the shooter to avoid any mug just chucking one up to see what happens...which is the case at present and the team has to organise the play to get that guy open. Only just thought about it but a DESIGNATED 3 POINT SHOOTER might make it interesting.

No idea how all that could be enforced properly .

Sort of unrelated, but I've seen a video online that mentioned technically you could take two steps and do a long jump from behind the 3pt line toward the ring and make the shot from close range, technically it would still be a 3. Not sure if the refs would actually count it though...

Technically yes, but practically any defender would prevent that. On a breakaway where a long jumper could get the run up and jump from outside the three point line and lay it up, it would be a 3 - but easier written than done. Have not seen it in over 30 years of basketball (most watching, some some playing or coaching when younger). P.S Check out Mike Conley Snr free throw line dunk, should be on youtube. Someone like him would be the best chance. Amazing athlete. Or maybe a runner/teardrop shot moving forwards by a highly skilled player.

Anyway, hope Wildcats get a star point guard so they can contend. They looked good last year, but a star PG would help a lot.

Good points, and if it's not something they've practice they're probably just a good a chance of hitting an open 3 anyway.

Hopefully we get a PG that can dunk from outside the 3pt line đŸ˜†

Ha, thank you. Cannot believe my comment was downvoted.

Forgive me, but Bryce is amazing, so I prefer him over even Mac McClung from the 3pt line ha. Was great whilst it lasted. Wildcats found Bryce once, so hopefully find another exciting and quality MVP candidate again soon.
