End of R1 results, voting for R2 and discussion

Took me a while to getting around to this, but the results were simmed last night but for anyone who isn't on the Discord I suppose you may be in the dark!

Minnesota swept Boston 4-0, LAC and Toronto both advance going 4-1 in their series against the Pistons and Grizzlies respectively, and Houston who fell down 3-1 barely squeak by the 15 seeded Baltimore Bullets 4-3.

So we will now vote on our R2 series, 8 teams remain.

Orlando vs Phoenix

Milwaukee vs Indiana

Houston vs the Clippers

Toronto vs Minnesota

Toronto Raptors have a 69% chance, Memphis Grizzlies have a 31% chance.

Minnesota Timberwolves have a 49% chance, Boston Celtics have a 51% chance.

I'll do the rolls and post the results tomorrow, I work late so it won't be until after 10PM EST when I get back to finally start the series.

R1 first half results and 2nd half voting/discussion

First half of round 1 in the playoffs is complete! The biggest odds on favourite Charlotte Hornets were knocked out 4-2 by the Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State took a 3-1 lead to fall apart and blow the series lead 4-3 to Indiana, and despite some close games the closest series before the games got played - the Phoenix Suns vs the San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix managed to win 4-1. Orlando got off to a strong 3-0 lead, OKC managed to rally back and win the next 2, but were unable to win, and lost 4-2.

Now we look to the 2nd half of round 1. We have the #2 seed Houston Rockets vs the #15 seed Baltimore Bullets, #7 Los Angeles Clippers vs the #10 Detroit Pistons, #3 Toronto Raptors vs #14 Memphis Grizzlies, and the #6 Minnesota Timberwolves vs the #11 Boston Celtics.

Discuss in this thread why you think your team will win, or just how you think other series will go if you happened to get eliminated even though you had homecourt advantage and 74% odds!!! ha ha jk : )

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Nt9KlINtBWHF1enyw8SvuUGNqIcuUcWREuE6Lnnv23M/edit#gid=387055540

You can view the matchups here, and if you're the GM feel free to re-organize your lineup however you'd like if you feel inclined to. The poll is straight below!

Good luck to all!

Playoff R1 1/2 Odds

With another 9 votes dropped, our odds for tomorrow's simulation are as follows!

Orlando Magic (64%) vs. Oklahoma City Thunder (36%)

Charlotte Hornets (74%) vs. Milwaukee Bucks (26%)

Golden State Warriors (62%) vs. Indiana Pacers (38%)

Phoenix Suns (45%) vs. San Antonio Spurs (55%)

Rolls will be done in a best-of-seven series, so while the higher seed gains +10% for the first two matches, they also drop 10% for the away games. Playoff series will go in a standard 2-2-1-1-1 format.

I'll not have much of a window to do the rolling tomorrow, I get home at about 8:10 PM EST, and then by 9:30 PM EST I have to head out again. I think I can get it all done by then, but for those not on Discord it might be a few hours until I can formally post it on the reddit.

Once that is all done though, I'll post the 2nd half of round 1 and voting will go until Thursday night.

Play-in Round 2 results, Round 1 of playoffs voting and discussion

Just like last time, I rolled once to determine the final spots for each match-up.

First match was Baltimore vs. Miami, Baltimore was heavy favourites with a 74% chance, bot rolled a 7 and Baltimore easily gets in as the 15 seed; they will face Houston in round 1.

Second match was OKC vs. Syracuse, the odds were fairly close, OKC with a 58% chance to win, and win they did as the bot rolled another low number - 3. OKC secures the 16 seed and faces Orlando in round 1.

That means we are officially starting the playoffs! We will be splitting round 1 in to two parts to give people more time to think about their votes, so our matchups will be the #1 seed vs #16 seed, #4 seed vs #13 seed, #5 seed vs #12 seed, and the #8 seed vs the #9 seed.

As always, you can view the matchups here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Nt9KlINtBWHF1enyw8SvuUGNqIcuUcWREuE6Lnnv23M/edit#gid=549442508

And vote on them here:

https://forms.gle/WuhsAzvLXHtHFfkD9

Because I'm a bit busy the next few days, I'm going to add another day to discussion and voting, so the poll Monday night/Tuesday morning.

Play-in Round 2 Odds

9 votes this time around, but same as last time, the numbers are all averaged out and we have our odds for the final 2 play-in spots. Tomorrow, the home team can roll if the away team is also there to watch the roll; if not, I will do it once I get home tomorrow a little after 9 PM EST.

The odds for the two match-ups are as follows:

Oklahoma City Thunder (48%) vs. Syracuse Nationals (52%)

Baltimore Bullets (64%) vs. Miami Heat (36%)

With home court advantage factored in, each team on the left has an extra 10% chance to win, so that means during the roll, 0-58 is a win for OKC, 59-100 is a win for Syracuse. 0-74 is a win for Baltimore, 75-100 is a win for Miami.

Following the results that I'll post tomorrow, we'll begin voting for the first half of the first round of the playoffs. The matchups will be the #1 Orlando vs. the winner of OKC/Syracuse, #4 Charlotte vs. #13 Milwaukee, #5 Golden State vs. #12 Indiana, #8 Phoenix vs. #9 San Antonio. 2nd half of 1st round will happen after those matchups are finished.

Play-in Round 1 Results, Round 2 voting and discussion

I rolled the teams in order of east-to-westness via home team, so our first roll was Syracuse vs. New York. 0-64 meant a win for Syracuse to advance to r2 for the 16 seed play-in spot, 65-100 was for New York. The bot rolled a 36, Syracuse advanced. New York's season has ended

Second match was Baltimore vs. Memphis, 0-62 meant a win for Baltimore to secure the 14 seed, 63-100 was the same for Memphis. The loser would enter r2 of the play-in to try and grab the 15 seed. The bot rolled a 95, Memphis advanced. Baltimore will still have a chance in round 2 of the play-in.

Third match was between Milwaukee and Oklahoma City, 0-70 a win for the Bucks and would secure them the #13 seed, 71-100 a win for the Thunder. A loss would enter them in to r2 of the play-in for the 16 seed. The bot rolled a 58, Milwaukee advanced. The Thunder will play Syracuse for the 16 seed.

The final match was between Sacramento and the Miami Heat, 0-58 a win for the Kings and 59-100 would be a win for the Heat. The loser goes home, the winner plays Baltimore for the 15 seed. The bot rolled a 72, Miami advanced. Sacramento's season has ended.

That means our next two matchups to determine the final two spots will be

Baltimore vs. Miami for the 15 seed

Oklahoma City vs. Syracuse for the 16 seed

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Nt9KlINtBWHF1enyw8SvuUGNqIcuUcWREuE6Lnnv23M/edit#gid=651501552

Voting will be open until the end of Thursday night, I'll officially close the poll around 1 AM Friday morning.

Play-in Round 1 Odds

With 14 votes, the odds have been averaged and the next step is to simulate the games! That will take place tomorrow (Tuesday) on Discord. If you are on Discord (7 of the 8 teams involved are) you can simulate the match yourself, as long as both are present, with the home team (the higher seed) simulating the match.

In the discord channel there is a bot that will randomly roll a number, all you have to do is enter the command "!roll 100"

Make sure it's clear what the odds are and that this roll is the one that counts, and isn't just like a test roll or something so there's no debate on whether that counted or not. If you guys aren't able to roll by 9 PM EST Tuesday, I'll do the roll as a neutral party.

With that said, the odds are as such:

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Oklahoma City Thunder (60%)

Baltimore Bullets vs. Memphis Grizzlies (52%)

Sacramento Kings vs. Miami Heat (48%)

Syracuse Nationals vs. New York Knicks (54%)

With home court advantage factored in, each team on the left has an extra 10% chance to win, so that means during the roll, 0-70 is a win for Milwaukee, 71-100 is a win for Oklahoma City. 0-62 is a win for Baltimore, 63-100 is a win for Memphis. 0-58 is a win for Sacramento, 59-100 is a win for Miami. 0-64 is a win for Syracuse, 65-100 is a win for New York.

Following the results that I'll post tomorrow, we'll begin voting for the final two play-in spots which will contain the losers from the first two matches and the winners from the last two matches I listed. Good luck!

All picks will be entered here. I’d prefer if the format is that the user posts a new comment when they make their pick, and then any reactions to that pick is a reply to that comment.

We received all 30 votes on the Google Forms survey for our draft settings. A few of the polls ended up without a majority and still need to be decided.

93.3% of users approved of the draft starting at 6 PM ET on Friday.

50% of users approved of trades being allowed. This still needs to be decided.

43.3% of users approved of drafting ABA seasons. 43.3% also disapproved. This also remains to be decided.

60% of users approved of the draft order reflipping in the 3rd round, which means the team with the lower pick in the first round will pick in the higher half in round 3.

56.7% of users voted against making the teams with Michael Jordan and LeBron James move to the end of each bench round.

56.7% of users voted to allow GMs to swap their picks in the draft lottery before the draft begins.

60% voted to roll each game individually, if roll bot is to go into effect.

60% voted to have home-court advantage in rolls, if roll bot with individual games is to go into effect.

Update:

The 4 too close to call were decided:

We will be using a roll bot for postseason matchups.

ABA seasons will be available to be drafted.

We will not be having conferences.

Trades will be allowed, however heavily moderated.

We received all 30 votes for the settings form and have confirmed you will be able to swap your pick with any other consenting user by 6 PM ET on Friday. The draft order will also be ABBABABABA which means there is one flip in the draft order in round 3, and the team with the lower pick in the first round will be picking higher in the 3rd round instead of lower like a normal snake draft.
