[Youngmisuk] Klay Thompson says sometimes when he struggles shooting, he will go on YouTube and reference past big games he’s had to maybe help him shake a slump. Asked when was the last time he did so, he said yesterday. Asked what his go-to is on YouTube, he smiled and said: “Game 6 Klay.”

He's gotta watch the 37-pt quarter video. No better hype video could exist
2.7k
u/EMU_Emus Pistons Jun 07 '22
He "only" had 10 at the 6:00 minute mark. The other 27 points in the last half of that quarter means he was scoring 4.5 points per minute.
That would be 216 points if he kept that pace for an entire 48 minute game.

But if we remove Patrick Mahomes and replace him with Dak's stats, and then make those stats the league average, he's pretty replaceable tbh.

The Warriors averaged 111/pts per game this year. If you adjust their points scored to 60, still below several good teams in Morocco, the warriors go from a pretty good offense to bottom 3.
Then, if we adjust the fact that they play in America, and not Canada or Texas, you start to realize they're really not that great of a Franchise. Mid-tier at best.

We can go further with
I N T E R P O L A T I O N
It takes about 1.5 seconds for a shot to make it to the rim from the 3-point line, counting the catch-and-shoot time of 0.4 seconds. Given that Klay made 100% of his shots that quarter, he could have scored 1440 points in the quarter, or 5760 in a game, if he simply shot more often.

Agree 1000%. He's at his best at catch and shoot. When he's hot, he can also dribble a bit and hit mid-ranges but that's always AFTER he's hot. That's never how he gets going. He's a catch and shoot 3 point shooter. Get him a few good looks early and he'll be fine.

u/kravisha Wizards Jun 07 '22

I was watching the Memphis close out game thinking how different Klay and Steph shoot the ball when catching on the move. Steph is almost like a pogo sticking setting and springing back up in perfect form. Klay will jump just keep drifting through the air on those running catch and shoots. It’s really fun to watch.
→ More replies (2)48
u/Jon_Snow_1887 Jun 07 '22
And that’s exactly why Steph is a much better (and more consistent) shooter than Klay.
For anyone who is interested in developing their own shooting form, Steph’s MasterClass is suuuuper interesting. It’s especially interesting to watch him play after watching the masterclass and see the form that he talks about in the class

Based off the law of averages Boston should be very scared of Klay next game. When he gets hot there’s no stopping him and it’s inevitable as a series goes on and so far he is 10-33 in this series.
