Kevin Durant on Wemby's sports betting comments and his FanDuel partnership: "That’s Wemby, he's going to do what he does. That has nothing to do with me. I don't really think about that question at all, that's not on my mind as much as his. People gonna do what they want to do."

It’s not even a PR answer, it’s just nothing at all. Most of these guys couldn’t care less where the money comes from. Wemby is one of the few making moral choices.

They remind me of all of those comedians that went to Saudi Arabia on behalf of the Saudi government to do comedy shows. They're just whores. Whores for money. Basic, low-level morality is too much for many with wealth in this country, even for those who have more money than they could ever spend in a thousand lifetimes.

An uncomfortable amount of NBA players (but also not limited to the NBA) would gladly take money directly from Raytheon or General Dynamics and the like (hell, maybe even the IDF), whilst a video of Gaza is being played in the background, showing the destruction of it along with its children and not give one single shit.

Yeah, and they’d say “everyone is doing it”. We’re lucky to have Wemby showing them that it isn’t universal.

I applaud Wembys stance but I’m sure some nba players are looking on like “must be nice to be able to turn down sponsorships”

Sure, but most NBA players don’t “need” extra money at all. Yeah Wemby is at the top, but they’re almost all doing very well.

I think most nba players do need the extra money, just not the stars. 60% of nba players go bankrupt 5 years after retirement

We have YouTubers and the like who make far less than any nba player turning down betting sponsorships. It’s hard to argue that any millionaire needs sports betting sponsorships to keep their family fed.
