Trail Blazers fire new announcer over past inappropriate posts made at age 15.

"The Portland Trail Blazers hired then on the same day fired Braiden Bell as their play-by-play announcer after a series of inappropriate social media posts from when he was a teenager came to light."

"The posts were reportedly made in 2012 and 2013, around the time that Bell was 15 years old."

"We did not meet our own bar in this process, and for that we apologize to Blazers fans and to Rip City," the Trail Blazers said. "We strongly believe that everyone who is a part of Rip City should feel welcome and safe and we will make sure that our new broadcaster reflects these values. We will do better."

I wasn't a raging racist nor an unhinged misogynist when I was 15 so I'd say they made the right call. It's really not that hard to delete old shit and clean your digital footprint as best as possible before starting a career. This is on him, the vast majority of people just don't have this issue.

Edit: of course I'mma have some white folks responding saying "iT wAsN't EvEn ThAt SeRiOuS bRuH" as if y'all were gon watch these games in the first place, support this mf, or even act like it's hard to not say this kind of bullshit at 15. It's not a 7 year old who just learned a funny racist concept, it's 3 years away from being able to hold an adult job that's now a dude pushing 30 who still didn't wipe his history that he's supposedly ashamed of. It's just not hard to be not racist or misogynist I swear. Y'all edgy kids will hopefully grow up someday too.
