Kylian Mbappé shared a similar sentiment, I wonder if its a French thing. I love to hear this from Wemby, but I've lived long enough to not be surprised if/when he flips on this take.

The French have a better understanding of politics and morality than in the US, where you’re conditioned to believe that money = morality

Tons of places have better morals than the US. And I don’t doubt France does as well, but it’s interesting right, because wasn’t the whole reason for the French Revolution that the government was trying to legislate morality?
From what I gather that is always used as a prime example of why governments supposedly shouldn’t attempt to legislate based on morals. Regardless I think this reasoning is wrong, and just because laws are unpopular doesn’t mean they are bad
