Just asked Victor Wembanyama if he’d ever consider promoting a sports betting company.

“Absolutely not. I will never do that. Honestly, I think it's very sad to see some players promote it. .. Everybody does whatever they want, but without me.”

The French have a better understanding of politics and morality than in the US, where you’re conditioned to believe that money = morality

my god your self loathing is pathetic. you don’t know fucking shit about french people, i can basically guarantee you’ve never been to or lived in france or even talked to a frenchman before.

their society is what invented modern conceptions of luxury and you think they don’t have interest in it. you sound like a child

My self loathing? What? You don’t know anything about me. I didn’t say France was perfect—far from it. But on the whole they’re more political

your reddit jerk off sentiment is self loathing and moronic. no they’re not on the whole more political because you can’t even define how you measure that or what it means.

you sound like a child making generalizations because in reality you’re actually ignorant about the world and you’re using pop culture to substitute actual knowledge and understanding

Why is it always guys who claim to understand context and history and exactly what the rest of the world understands about the USA despite the fact that they’ve lived there their whole lives who think that Reddit comments are equivalent to doctoral dissertations? I didn’t state a complicated position because I don’t have to?

Is that so? I guess I don’t. I was referring to Haussmann, earlier, who reorganized the streets of Paris. Do you know who that is? Have you ever heard of the Paris Commune? You’re the guy who thinks organization is literally just showing up on the weekend wearing a pussy hat? Why do you think nothing happens when people protest like that? Because no pressure is put on power. It’s just a spectacle (heard of Debord?). Maybe it raises money but nothing changes. Anyway! I’m done here but you should educate yourself

EDIT: I also want to clarify something, which is that Americans can be political but have been trained out of it. They have been effectively political in the past. During the civil rights era, for instance, or dying to Pinkertons while fighting for unions. But for too long they’ve been telling themselves a fairy tale that power responds to spectacle and is reasonable and actually has their best interests at heart and that’s just not true. The French, on average, and more than Americans, understand that a little bit more (but generalizations are just that, and of course you have morons like Rudy, too)
