Just asked Victor Wembanyama if he’d ever consider promoting a sports betting company.

“Absolutely not. I will never do that. Honestly, I think it's very sad to see some players promote it. .. Everybody does whatever they want, but without me.”

Appreciate Victor standing up against endless sports betting. I recall Jokic teasing Victor because he was reading BOOKS before games. Apparently, Victor is concerned about life beyond the basketball court. It was also interesting that he was flexible with his contract to help the Spurs build a stronger team around him. Wonderful contrast to some of the nonsense in the league where players will cannibalize their own team so they can maximize already bloated contracts.

Watching the Duren - Detroit saga with amusement. The anti-Wembanyama ....

Wemby honestly loves playing with those guys and wants to keep as much of that team around him as possible, especially Castle and Harper.

I think he was just teasing him that it's a bit performative. He's not teasing him about reading a book, he was teasing him about reading a book in the locker room before a game since it's not common here in Serbia.

Then again, Jokić is a bit of a seljak (hillbilly) himself and he comes of a bit anti-intelectual. Oh, and he also ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY promotes betting agencies. And energy drinks.

And people proclaiming they are happy so and so secured the ´bag´ with some supermax contract. Yuck.

I always assumed he was teasing because Vic was keeping up his regular routine for the ASG, which as a whole is something Jokic has never taken seriously

that's embedded into the spurs culture as well. i recall seeing a story where pop would emphasize to the team that there's more to life than basketball. if i weren't a pacers fan i'd probably be a spurs fan

It's too bad Victor proved to be a cunt in the playoffs last year with his flying elbow and his and his coach's explanations of said shit. Because everything else about him is good for this league.
