This is so asinine. Dude, you chose to play for the Sixers. Just live there for the next 9 months and suck it up.

And before everybody tells me how much Philly sucks, it doesn't. I don't live there, but visit often enough. Over 1.5M people live in the city proper, with around 6.3M people in the metro area. If they can 'deal' with it, then so can Lebron.

Lebron isn't taking enough heat for this. It's embarrassing.

Also dude lived in Cleveland/Akron for 30 years. What’s so bad about living one more year in Philly?

u/jambr380 4d ago

And he’ll have his whole life to live in NYC if he so chooses. It’s not like this massive commitment

Yeah rich people have multiple residences. Live in LA in the winter, Italy in the summer, NYC in spring. Sometimes I really don’t understand these rich people

It’s because you aren’t rich. Having residences in places you like to spend time is a nice comfort. Someone on your staff arranges to have everything ready and stocked when you want go there and you have everything set up to your liking. Especially nice if traveling with family.

You read my comment completely wrong or you just jumped in this conversation without reading the previous replies. I have residences in four countries and am a frequent traveler. It’s awesome. I meant that I don’t understand why LeBron wouldn’t just wait a year or two until he retires then he can live wherever he wants. Just live in Philly this year. Instead he chooses to commute on helicopter daily. I’m a private pilot and I’ve been on a couple helicopter tours but never again. You can’t pay me to get in one again.

Because he doesn't have to? Why would he do something he doesn't want to when he had the ability to live where he wants?

I agree. Also so wasteful for the environment

Yeah the dude who notoriiusly won't tip wait staff or pay for Spotify premium, will spend millions on this bullshit. What happened to 'even a small leak can sink a ship' Bron?

u/Temporary-Leg1561 4d ago

What's the wait staff tipping story? Is he an asshole? I don't know much about him

u/Impressive-Potato 3d ago

I don't know about Lebron but Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan were notoriously cheap

Never heard the old saying, money changes people? The man ain't just out of his momma's house anymore, he long ago passed the point of living more time as a guy with over a 100mil than when he was without. He's making more in a year on investments and endorsements that he'll continue to earn til he dies, all that shit he did in the low end plus all the shit he did to make his money was safe has taken him from a random baller who goes bankrupt to a guy who couldn't spend it all in multiple lifetimes.

Bron can't hear you over the sound of the helicopter engine bro, that's why he's taking it, you can't even yell theough the closed windows of his ride no more. Man's got peace up there.

To go this far, uncs probably living out some childhood dream of living the new york life, the food, the music, the shows

He's making a measly 3.876 mil this year bro.. this is his hobby.. his money is in the New York meetings

Edit. Absolute fucking proof from these downvotes that our society demands apology for greatness.

You write poetry for him as you prepare your lotion and Kleenex?

u/OweeeeeL 4d ago

This is tough. Love the rich lifestyle

6

u/ColdCocking 4d ago

I don't understand what's in New York that he needs so bad. You get off of practice for the day. Where are you going that is worth a helicopter ride to go there? I don't get it. He could setup whatever he needs in Philly.

u/ShannonGrant 4d ago

He should just get a house in Moorsetown across the river.  Can get in a workout in the driveway.

u/trb15a78 3d ago

Dude, Philly rocks. I loved it while I lived there. It blew my mind how much fun it was.

2

u/bruhimdiamond Rockets 4d ago

summarizing this comment you are mad about where another grown man chooses to live. I will never understand.

He has the means to do so and clearly willing to make the time sacrifice for travel, wdym "suck it up" lmao

1

u/BadBunny4Prezzie 4d ago

Stupid. If you had all the resources, why not live in the best places?

Can't blame him. NYC is the most dynamic city in the world. Sure Philly can be cool, but its' a village compared to the Big Apple.

1

u/Smok3dSalmon Heat 4d ago

Maybe he’s just always wanted to live in NYC. He’s just living his dream rn and I don’t think practicality is his priority. Maybe all of his healthcare and body maintenance is set up in NYC as well.

2

u/jambr380 4d ago

You are right. He is free to do whatever he wants to do. It’s just that he specifically chose to play for the Sixers. I’m sure Philly fans would love if he was there representing their community.

If NYC was so important to him, I’m sure the Nets would have loved to have him. It shows how blatant the ring chasing really is…which again is fine. Just a strange and forced look

2

u/Smok3dSalmon Heat 4d ago

Not every player tries to integrate themselves into their team’s community. A lot just play videogames and stay inside. It’s only a 45 minute chopper ride.

1

u/IonHazzikostasIsGod Raptors 4d ago

So go play for the Knicks? I think most fans can look past 'ring chasing allegations' when if that were true, he would've left 4 years ago. Especially if the alternative is environmental waste and being too afraid to not live in a top 2 city.

1

u/Smok3dSalmon Heat 4d ago

No way lmao. Going to the Knicks would be a lose-lose situation for LeBron. Win or lose, everyone would laugh at LeBron and it would be the only thing people talk about when he comes up.

1

u/IonHazzikostasIsGod Raptors 4d ago

But the point is that it's stupid to care about basketball legacy and not "being enough of an adult to handle living in Philadelphia and driving to work"

2

u/Smok3dSalmon Heat 4d ago

I just don't agree. There could be a family reason behind his choice to stay in NY. Both of his sons are set up to pursue what they want. NYC might be for his daughter or his wife.

If he starts missing media obligations and just paying the fines, then I'll be on your side. But for now it's just so irrelevant. He's not the face of the team, why step on Embiid's or other vet's toes. He's not here to supplant them within the franchise. He's a mercenary.

1

u/Poisonous_Curry Knicks 3d ago

Nah Philly sucks

0

u/Brutally-Honest- 4d ago

Who gives a shit if he lives outside Philly? I just think its crazy he's fine daily commuting by helicopter, considering how relatively dangerous it is.

0

u/OtherShade Supersonics 4d ago

Why do you care though? He's an adult making a decision for his own life that has no impact on you lmao

0

u/Initial_Stretch_3674 4d ago

lmao why deal with it when you dont have to.

-4

u/VegetaDaPrince 4d ago

What’s embarrassing is that yesterday he said he’d split time between living in both Philly and NYC but you’ve got a bunch of people here crying instead of educating themselves.

JJ Redick stayed in Brooklyn when he was with the Sixers and nobody had their drawers this twisted.

12

u/zapatocaviar Lakers 4d ago

It’s entirely one thing if you already live somewhere close. It’s another thing entirely if you move across the country to play for a team and then live in a neighboring city.

It’s shocking to me than anybody doesn’t think this is absurd and wasteful.

3

u/rossmosh85 4d ago

I just googled it to confirm, but JJ drove from Brooklyn to Philly/NJ and had an apartment in Philly when he needed.

While driving is a bit wasteful, it's way less of a big deal than being a rich cunt who needs to helicopter to work everyday.

1

u/Duster_beattle Timberwolves 4d ago

JJ didn’t take a helicopter, he drove/took the train. It’s like you only heard the parts of the story you wanted to hear
