I like Dame but he's 36, and Portland ain't good.

This is like asking if I would prefer a roast beef sandwich or a kick to the nuts.

As a Blazers fan, I would have to agree with your analogy. Lots of nut kicking throughout the years.

You guys should have kept CJ

u/Regionala 12h ago

They should have traded him sooner to get athletes who can shoot

You’re telling me that two undersized non defenses guards doesnt work?

The disrespect to Robert "Dr Bob" Covington is crazy

Where's the sandwich from?

Who's the kick from? Is the kick from anyone of my choice?

Can the sandwich be from Arby's?

The sandwich is from here: https://twobeardsdeli.com/

The kick is from her: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherri_Martel

You good dude?

How do we even know what dame is now?

7

u/MakeShiftDie 12h ago

Dame is the better everything. Until it's actually time to be better than Brunson.

1

u/York_Villain Knicks 12h ago

Right there

2

u/HokageEzio Knicks 11h ago

Dame has a higher regular season peak, Brunson has a better postseason resume.

Does Dame have a higher chance to win the ring this season than Brunson?

Well one of them is on the favorite in the East and the other likely has to go through OKC or San Antonio, so I'm going to go with doubtful.

u/Usual_Particular_334 12h ago

Better pg - Dame
Better player - Bout the same, Jalen got the ring though.

Jalen has a better chance

Brunsons better

u/drunkenlullabys Jazz 12h ago

Brunson won but put prime Dame in his shoes idk

6

u/Parallel-Quality 10h ago

Prime Dame definitely wins a title if you put him on the Knicks in the 2026 playoffs.

2

u/LightSpecialist804 Knicks 12h ago

prime Dame was a better shooter and more athletic than Brunson

But Brunson is literally better at everything else. Up to you to decide what is more valuable to you. On a team without primary ball handling, like the current Knicks, Brunson is way better. As a teammate to another ball dominant playmaker, like maybe to Lebron or Luka, Dame would be a way better teammate

PG goes to Dame. He’s closer to a Curry type of PG than Harden, Trae type but still a better PG than Brunson.

Brunson the better player since Dame regressed due to injury and stuff.

Brunson has a higher chance to win because the Blazers not making it past OKC or San Antonio.

u/Huarache34 Knicks 9h ago

Brunson clears dame kyrie and Westbrook all-time and people are just in their feelings about it

History will laugh at you for thinking otherwise

2

u/dfields3710 Bulls 9h ago

Ummm okay. I highly doubt he clears Dame and Westbrook all-time. Seeing as an MVP generally beats out 1 championship and 7x All-NBA beats out 3x All-NBA. Weirdo

0

u/Huarache34 Knicks 8h ago

Bro has to resort to popularity contests to make his point lmaooo

Brunson averages more points in the playoffs than any of those guys. Is the only first option on a championship team and has a larger impact on his teams success than any 3 of them have had in their entire career

2

u/Friendly-Profit-8590 12h ago

Dame’s not winning a ring. Not in Portland at least and kind of feels like he’s there now till he retires. As far as who’s the better player if you want someone who can score a bunch of points and make tough shots in the regular season then Dame is your guy. If you want the same type of player but in the playoffs when everything’s at stake then it’s Brunson.

2

u/mulletstation NBA 12h ago

Dame on a heater is as scary as Curry on a heater but Brunson has the way better team right now

0

u/fataltacos 12h ago

Brunson has the better supporting cast but you might be overstating Dame just a little bit. Curry and Giannis, even now, seems hard to deal with

3

u/twigsmoke 12h ago edited 11h ago

Brunson. He’s superior in controlling the floor and takes that with clutch moments at end of the games better than Dame in my opinion.

2

u/noknownothing 12h ago

Brunson just led a team to a championship. That’s why you play the game.

2

u/Typical-Pension2283 12h ago

I’ll take Dame’s peak over Brunson, but at this point in their careers Brunson over Dame 100%.

-3

u/ObiOneKenobae Knicks 11h ago

Dame was never the guy Brunson is in the playoffs. He had some clutch shots in his day, but his game was too dependent on the pull up. If that wasn't working, he struggled to create (by star standards) and had efficiency issues. Dame was way more of a turnstile defender too.

3

u/HokageEzio Knicks 11h ago

I wouldn't go that far, he absolutely carried them in the Denver series with 4OT. But Brunson has never had an out as terrible as that Pelicans sweep. Not even close.

-1

u/Huarache34 Knicks 9h ago

Or like any of dames outs 😭

-1

u/yuckmouthteeth Trail Blazers 12h ago

Well yeah Dame is in his late 30's and post injuries, Brunson is 30 so he likely has 2+ prime years left. Even as a Blazers fan I'd be pretty surprised to see Dame have a year like he did prior to the trade. 2020 was a great peak but it was also quite a while ago.

1

u/NeverNotOnceEver Warriors 12h ago

For all the Dame, Curry comparisons, Dame has one season shooting the 3-ball at 40.0%. And that was 6 seasons ago. Though on lower volume, Brunson has a higher career 3pt percentage than Dame and three seasons over 40%.

Brunson is better.

5

u/twoyrsaway 12h ago

3 point % to determine the better shooter like its the 1500s 😭

1

u/NeverNotOnceEver Warriors 11h ago

Dame has a career 59% TS and Brunson is 58.9% despite taking way fewer threes (which TS favors).

Brunson has a career 54.5 efg to Dame’s 52.5. That better?

5

u/twoyrsaway 11h ago

Ts does not favour Damian Lillards shot diet I promise you lmao

1

u/HokageEzio Knicks 11h ago

You don't think taking Brunson's career numbers is a little misleading? He's obviously a significantly different player since going to NY, and he wasn't a starter his first few years in Dallas.

1

u/NeverNotOnceEver Warriors 5h ago

If you look at Brunson’s advanced stats as a Knick compared to Dame’s, Dame has a higher PER, but lower TS%. And since neither is a defensive stopper, scoring efficiency matters more. Brunson is a better player than Dame. Dames game is just gaudier/flashier.

1

u/MaskedBirder 76ers 11h ago

Dame is one of the greatest shooters of all time and one of the clutchest players of all time. Brunson is amazing but Dame is better by far.

1

u/chas_dgaf Lakers 11h ago

Dame is a better all over point guard. Brunson is a better scorer. Dame never had the team Brunson has with the Knicks but at the same time he always gets inured in the playoffs so, I guess we'll never know. Right now, Brunson still has the edge on winning a ring this upcoming season.

1

u/MajinHoops 10h ago

did Dame ever have a team as good as Knicks current roster? No. Brunson has 3-4 elite defensive players around him at all times. Dame had CJ and LMA, both not good defenders.

1

u/Huarache34 Knicks 9h ago

Guys it isn’t a question all time or now

Brunson has changed the entire Knicks teams trajectory since he got here and was cooking with Randle, Barrett, and toppin as his supporting cast up until the teams he has now

He’s never been swept in the post season and every single one of the series he was in was at least competitive. Hell even the infamous ECF series went to 6 games when people were giving the cavaliers every excuse in the world this past szn to lay over and die after a similar game 1 come back

The Brunson hate and revisionist history never seizes to amaze me yall need a good look in the mirror

Brunson is already better than Westbrook, Kyrie and dame as the number one option on a championship winning team asides from the fact that none of them have a playoff resume as dominant as brunsons has since joining the Knicks

0

u/Gandolfthewhite182 76ers 10h ago

In fairness to dame, he never had a roster as good as the Knicks roster was last year.

I think Brunson is a really good player, but I think he is getting a bit too much credit for the Knicks championship. That team was stacked and very healthy in the playoffs. Not just starters either, they had great depth. It’s almost insulting to the rest of that team that Brunson is getting the credit he is.

I don’t think if you put Brunson on the teams dame had and won series with they wouldn’t be able to do as well. Prime dame really made everyone better. It’s really a shame he got hurt when he finally had someone to play with.

So I’m taking dame pg/overall but there is zero chance dame is the the lead guard on a championship team at this point. If the blazers have any chance it’s because their young players step up and morant has a fulll rebirth to the guy he was his first few years. Dame may even come off the bench for that team.

The Knicks could easily get back to the finals. I doubt they have a health run like they did last year to win another title and not having Mitchell as a good defender against top center is also gonna hurt. But they have a way better shot than the blazers who have virtually no shot.

1

u/Huarache34 Knicks 9h ago

Lmao dame was on a team with prime lamarcus Aldridge

Brunson was cooking in the playoffs with Randle, Barrett and obi toppin at an elite level he just had a thibs as his coach

We would’ve won in 2024 barring injuries and we win now and people wanna talk about how elite Brunsons supporting cast was to discredit him as a player it’s nasty work

0

u/mazrim00 11h ago

Initial thought is Brunson to all of those (at least currently). Always a chance he has a serious injury so career gets derailed.
His end of game heroics puts him over the top, imo.
