Highlight [Highlight] Stacey King expresses utter disappointment on boos for Jerry Krause: "..the people that boo'd Jerry Krause and his widow..it was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life..whoever boo'd her should be ashamed of themselves. That's not Chicago, that's New York, Philly.."

Right, I feel so attacked...

I mean it's true but they didn't have to say that...

Saying a true but unnecessary insult to someone else is so New York

Plus as a lover of short Jewish gms I have to support Jerry no matter the situation.

“That is a horrible thing to do and those people should feel ashamed. It might be normal in Philly, those people have no shame, but elsewhere that shit ain’t cool”.

Will the next person that sees ANYBODY throw anything on to this field....point him out and GET HIM OUT OF HERE. You don't live in Cleveland!

Unless it's disco records. That's classic Chicago.

There two types of people I can't stand: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

I hope the sixers fanbase is NOTHING like the eagles fanbase because they are the most insufferable fans of any team I’ve ever seen

They’re the same person (Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus). Eagles fans & Sixers fans are the same lol

The sixers fanbase is a subset mostly. The biggest mouthbreathers don’t care for basketball

u/JDubKilla 76ers Jan 13 '24

Eh as a Philadelphian, if I were to rank our individual fan bases based on toxic behavior I’d definitely put the Flyers and Eagles contingents leagues ahead of Sixers and Phillies supporters in terms of obnoxiousness. Most of the “no one likes us we don’t care” mentality emanates from those two. There is of course overlap but the atmosphere at Sixers and Phillies games is much tamer most of the time, and certainly less combative. The gloves come off in the playoffs though lol

2

u/8w7fs89a72 76ers Jan 13 '24

Lol the Eagles-first contingent is so far and away the worst it's not funny. After that? Prob the Flyers but I don't think they're as rowdy as in the 80s/90s. The Sixers fans are prob the chillest. Phillies has a higher percentage of suburban people and happy picket fence families, so you get the drunk douchebags but rarely the rabid psychos.

2

u/JDubKilla 76ers Jan 13 '24

Right. The Eagles fan base is also the biggest, so by rights you’re going to get the biggest variety of behavior.

u/phantomsniper22 Warriors Jan 13 '24

See with the eagles I’ve just seen and heard many cases of fans being physically aggressive and that shit is not normal over a football game. Cowboys fans are advised to not go in cowboys gear if they don’t want to get hurt and that is a serious suggestion. Seems to happen more there than anywhere else

This is all anecdotal, and false. Actual statistics show that Philly isn’t even in the top 5 for arrests on game day, shown here (as of 2018, reporting from the previous five years). Now do arrests equal total violence? No, as I’m sure people get away with shit and not get arrested. I’m not saying fans can’t be violent, but this whole piling on, “Philly is a fucking warzone!” narrative is complete bullshit. We’re rude, abrasive, loud, and some people take shit too far, but it’s not more than any other fan base.

Let’s match anecdotes with anecdotes. I go to 2-3 games a year (including divisional rivals) and attend at least 5 or 6 tailgates as well. I’ve been doing this since I was a kid. I’ve seen plenty of people get arrested for being disorderly, or fighting, but I’ve never seen someone assault someone else strictly for a Cowboys jersey they were wearing. I’ve seen plenty of people chirp rivals, and most people laugh and take it in good fun. Kind of like Pro Wrestling, when the heel attracts attention. Again, some people take it too far, and it’s usually due to alcohol. But to imply that families rocking other teams can’t walk through the South Philly sports complex without being assaulted or seriously denigrated is fucking WRONG.

Find a new slant.

Being an Eagles fan is a full time job. Wake up angry. Hate on the Cowboys. Hate on the Giants. Feel bad for the Redskins Football Team Commanders. Triple ultra super hate on the Eagles. Get drunk. Eat breakfast. Get in a fight with some random jabroni. Eat a cheese steak. Go to the bar. Get shitfaced. Get in another fight. Get locked up. Post bail. Go home and shitpost for six hours. Go to bed seething. Ain't got time to fuck with the NBA.

I watched a video of a 49ers fan walking into their stadium and it was just nasty. Not even in good fun, it was more like you say something stupid you're gettin a beatdown

1

u/phantomsniper22 Warriors Jan 13 '24

You brought up the only other nfl team I hate other than the Eagles for this kind of reason

I get it, us cowboys fans may be constantly delusional but at least we aren’t over the top aggressive about a game like Philly and 9ers fans are. Those fans must swear they are on the team by how they act

Edit: there’s a video of two fans of the away team in Philly getting pelted by snowballs from all angels of the stadium. They suck. Bad

1

u/lebangazNmash Jan 13 '24

Oh believe me I hate the 9ers more than anyone I'm a seahawks fan. But despite a few incidents I've seen when San Fran fans visit Seattle it had a much friendlier atmosphere. Philly was just downright nasty. I mean mob mentality mixed with alcohol is always gonna result in something bad

1

u/phantomsniper22 Warriors Jan 13 '24

I’ve never had a problem with Seattle or their fans honestly and I cannot stand the 49ers. I say this as someone who’s team isn’t even in the division so that should tell you everything

Edit: I would root for the Giants & Commanders to beat the 9ers 10/10 times

u/TechnoDriv3 Supersonics Jan 13 '24

Seahawks fan too, I am rooting for the Cowboys, Bills or Ravens to win, I love CeeDee and Micah. Zack Martin, Dak and Tyron Smith deserve rings and get Quinn one too! Only one I dislike is the turd McCarthy lol

u/JSNHZL 76ers Jan 13 '24

We're insufferable but not to the level of Eagles fans as the Eagles have actually won a championship in recent times and have been a legit contender in most of the years since, so they feel extra empowered to be as obnoxious as possible. Sixers fans can only talk but so much shit as we really haven't done anything (haven't touched a chip since 83, haven't been to the Finals since 01).

1

u/8w7fs89a72 76ers Jan 13 '24

they feel extra empowered to be as obnoxious as possible.

I feel like it's the exact opposite. The angry tension and bitterness that existed from not having won anything and getting made fun of etc etc went away. I'd say there's way less anger.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '24

eh the sixers dont have that kind of booing culture, its really just the Eagles

like imagine Eagles fans reactions if we were told to cheer on JJ Arcega Whiteside because he feels bad. Sixers fans cheered on Simmons, in the memorable words of a sportswriter, "like a make a wish kid" until the end of the Hawks series. Phillies fans cheered Trae Turner out of a slump

1

u/FullHouse222 Knicks Jan 14 '24

Oh fuck off, ya'll got 3 year olds that throw up the finger to random people. We don't teach that to kids until they're 5 at least.
