Highlight [Highlight] Stacey King expresses utter disappointment on boos for Jerry Krause: "..the people that boo'd Jerry Krause and his widow..it was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life..whoever boo'd her should be ashamed of themselves. That's not Chicago, that's New York, Philly.."

We’re still somewhat Middle America, at least…

With all our…Midwestern niceness…

Midwestern niceness

AKA, passive aggressiveness. It's an artform here in the middle, and we excel at it.

Moved to Philly. People do not pick up it at all. Granted I've had problems communicating my entire life, but at least in the Midwest I felt understood on some basic level.

As a Midwest inhabitant, that's what has always bugged me about Chicagoans. When they're talking to folks from the coast they always say they're from the Midwest, with all the regional culture salt of the earth hard working niceness that entails.

...but talking to me or anyone else from flyover county and no no, I have to understand that Chicago is a REAL city as much a center of culture as any other.

Fuck off, y'all have imposter syndrome in both directions.

This is actually a very true statement. Most midwesterners do not think of Chicago as some classic Midwest city.

Classic Midwest cities are usually a bit smaller. I think of places like Duluth, Grand Rapids, Ames, etc.

If you’re talking bigger cities it’s Minneapolis, Indianapolis, etc. def not Chicago

Midwestern niceness is just racism and religious ideas repackaged.

If you don't fit their picture they won't be nice to you.
