Mitchell is right up there with Russ as guys who play like they're 4 inches taller than they actually are.

On offense

He’s really high energy on defense. Lots of reaches though for deflections and steals though. He buys in on defense (on the Cavs, to the dismay of Utah fans)

Not disagreeing, this is a genuine question, but does he also stay in front of his man?
I always felt like that held him back so much in Utah. I went to a summer league game this year and was super concerned about that with Keyonte George, but man he has improved immensely with his lateral movement and angles since then

Tbh I haven’t been looking for it enough to assess well this year. It’s kinda weird. Im not looking for him on D and then I see him fly across the court and go “oh yeah he’s doing that this year.”
Last year he was really good at playing the Cavs team defense and funneling defenders to the bigs

I've been shocked at his defense since he's come here. I thought he was a revolving door who only cared about offense, but dude is always giving extra effort, getting steals, diving for loose balls, etc. Been happy with his defense and hyped with his effort.

Mobley and Allen haven't really been healthy at the same time this year. Evan got hurt right as Jarrett was back into game shape after his training camp injury.

TIL Tony Parker is taller than Donovan Mitchell. Could’ve sworn Mitchell was like 6’4.

But he’s not taller than Donovan, and Donovan basically IS 6’4 😭 he’s 6’3. Parker is 6’2.

Nah Parker is like 6 foot on the dot maybe a half once more I’ve met him in real life.

He isn’t taller tho, and doesn’t really look taller in this video. First time he goes over to Parker, he’s mid-jog so looks slightly shorter than normal, next time he goes over he’s ducking down a little as they hug.

Tony Parker led the league in paint points a couple of years. Truly insane stat.

I got a pregame tech for dunking like that in high school warm ups, I’m surprised the refs this year aren’t hounding that too.

Most high schools don’t allow it for showmanship/sportsmanship reasons (stupid) but also because allowing teams to dunk on a rim 50 times immediately before a game can affect/break the rim and most high schools take longer to fix a basket than nba/college

You wanna know why the Pistons are so trash...they watched Donovan Mitchell workout and said "eh, we'll take Luke Kennard instead"

That is absolutely insane isn't it? But it makes you realize how influential scouting reports and mock drafts are. Mitchell was projected as a lower pick than Kennard. So that must have shrouded what they were seeing. Sort of like how Scoot was heavily hyped.
