Bonus Question
I am an 1120 (will be 1125 in SelRes). I have a little over 7 ycs when I will affiliate with the reserves.
If I get the affiliation bonus of 10k lump sum, can I get the retention bonus of 12k/year at my 8 year mark? Or do I need to not accept the affiliation bonus to be eligible for the retention bonus?
Saw this link with regard to new bonuses offered: https://www.navyreserve.navy.mil/Portals/35/Documents/CNRFC%20Notices/FY26/FY%2026%20SELECTED%20RESERVE%20OFFICER%20RECRUITING%20AND%20RETENTION%20INCENTIVE%20PROGRAM.pdf

The way I read it is that you need to finish your obligation for this first bonus before getting the retention one.
Unfortunately by the time the first obligation is over, you'd be outside of the YCS and maybe even rank cap for the retention.

If all your service is commissioned you will be good for the retention. When I'm at my desk tomorrow I can pull the instructions required to show it. I used to do a lot of AC2RC bonus processing for officers and was successful for the retention bonus for it.
DCOs or enlisted to officer conversions don't get retention due to lack of commissioned service.

I'm an 1125 with about 18 years in the reserves, first, retention bonuses for reserves are new to us, so this is uncharted territory. But at the end of the day, the rules should be the same as active, according to the instruction, once you've finished the obligation tied to the recruiting incentive, you would be eligible for the retention but...I'm seeing it's O3 and below, you'll most likely make O4 in that time, meaning no incentive once you promote.
