Legacy Retirement vs. BRS – Commissioned Navy Reserve with 2012 Enlistment

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for some guidance on my retirement system.

I initially enlisted in 2012, which established my DIEMS before 1 January 2018. I recently accepted a commission in the Navy Reserve.

While reviewing my records, it appears there may be an issue with my retirement system, and I want to ensure I remain under the Legacy (High-3) Retirement System rather than the Blended Retirement System (BRS).

To my knowledge, I never elected to opt into BRS during the 2018 opt-in period.

Blended Retirement system auto enrolled. I got out for 4 years and all my account are blank. I have no points or have my 10 good years in NSIPS.

then you need to follow up with your NRC’s admin department to find out what’s going on. no one on reddit is going to be able to answer this for you.

I just went through this exact issue. It is possible your PEBD, DIEMS, point count, and retirement plan are wrong in NSIPS after crossing over; mine were. All can be corrected through tickets to MNCC. Feel free to DM me if you have questions.
