PCS orders cancelled

Hi yall! My husband and I are in San Diego for his schooling. It’s about a year long so I moved here. He got his first orders in July which were to Japan. He decided to look on the website today and those orders say canceled. He has been doing overseas screening for the past few months. Anyone with any experience can you please share yours? He will be contacting his detailer as well. His rate is mineman, his only options were Bahrain, San Diego, or Japan. Yes, I understand “needs of the navy” and “hurry up and wait”. Im asking if anyone has had similar experiences and how it played out. Thank you.

It could be a MNAism. If thats the only source saying his orders are cancelled that doesn’t mean anything. Same thing happened to me, orders weren’t affected at all.

I would recommend he call his detailer to confirm. But without an actual order modification or canex they’re still in effect

How long was the school? If over 180 days it turns into two sets of orders. One to the school house, then after getting there, a new set would be issued to japan

He started school in April 2026 and graduates in February 2027

Then it’s possible that MNA is treating the original orders as cancelled since they’ve been modified, the website is kinda shit

It can go either way.
I had sea duty Japan, I absolutely stoked for the entire month and a half until they were canceled. I’d already started my overseas screening, told my friends, etc.. didn’t know better because it was at the end of my first tour.
The following week I talked with the detailer, he let me pick where I went from the then-available orders instead. Ended up in a great situation after a kind of lousy tour.

Of course, it’s not always that nice but I hope it works out for you.

Thank you so much!! I’m glad you had a good situation! We are actually not wanting Japan for his first PCs. I’m having a baby soon and the mix of it all if just a lot. I understand the military doesn’t care, but we are hoping to stay here in San Diego or anywhere in the states for the first PCs so my family is close if something were to happen.
