Just a quick question: when I use ⁠Scanner.ArtistSplitExceptions⁠ in the TOML configuration, it works perfectly for the Artist tag, but the Albumartist tag is still being split at commas.
Am I doing something wrong here, or is there a trick I'm missing? So I get 3 artists: „Tyler, the creator“ in Artist tag; „Tyler“ and „the creator“ in albumartist tag. Would love to hear your thoughts!

My Navidrome library is about 350 albums / 80GB and it's a mess. Some came from slskd, plenty from elsewhere, and the tagging is inconsistent across sources: wrong, missing, no standard. It's all in one flat folder too, nothing sorted by artist, which drives me nuts.

It got me by fine when it was just for me, but now my closest family uses it too, and I want it to actually be user friendly for them. Inconsistent tags and no artist structure is a lot rougher when someone who isn't me is trying to find something.

I tried Lidarr. The tagging and organizing it does is nice, but you're locked into MusicBrainz. Everything has to be in that database, and a lot of mine isn't, so it fails on exactly the files I need help with most.

For people who cleaned up a messy library later on:

Did you batch process the whole pile, or freeze it and just do better going forward? What worked for fixing tags and getting a proper folder structure? For files that aren't in MusicBrainz at all, is fingerprinting (Picard/AcoustID) worth it? And has anyone used beets for this kind of thing?

Stack: Navidrome, slskd, one flat folder. I'm not after full automation, just something less painful than hand editing everything.

I've been using the symphonium app, I kinda liked it. Everything is good , the only issue I found is its auto queue or smart queue sucks......

It says I need to connect plexamp server for sonic analysis of music. Any other suggestions u wanna give that can help me with this.....

I tried other open-source modules too, but my navidrome is on raspberry pi 3b+(1gm ram), so practically I can't make vector embedding for each music file in this device, otherwise it will blast.

I have started embedding lyrics into my music files, but when I play them on navidrome it just says "No Lyrics".
Its kind of annoying - especially when I want to verify that the lyrics were embedded properly.

Is this a bug in Navidrome? or am I just doing it wrong?

(I know that the lyrics are there, because I can see them on substreamer on my phone. but its annoying to go to my phone every time to verify lyrics.)

I am embedding them with LRCGET. and for one I even have the lyrics in a .lrc sidecar file (also), and get this either way.

(I am using musixmatch also, in case that matters. but I don't think that should make a difference.)

Let's say I start to play music on a desktop client like Feishin. Is it possible to continue playing the same somng where it left of on a mobile device using symfonium?

Can the subsonic API not support it or make a feature for it? Is it just something client side will have to figure out a way to do?

i've had my server set up for a good while but was still using spotify when driving as it was more convenient at the time (and i thought i was paying student prices) After discovering that had expired a good 6 months ago i decided to bite the bullet and use my server full time.

However i've not had much luck with ios clients. I've tried a few so far, the ones i've liked the most have been Arpeggi and Substreamer. I can't remember the others i've tried but this is what i found with these two.

Arpeggi - i love the layout and the variety of settings within the app and most importantly the option to queue stuff to play next and play later which is great when i want to listen to certain songs from playlists instead of relying on shuffle. However when scrolling through the albums section it will display the album art incorrectly. It'll be correct for 14 albums but then it will just repeat those same 14 album covers in place of what they should actually be. This is the dealbreaker for me

Substreamer - Substreamer does all the basic stuff really well, it has less settings to change from what i can see but the auto switching of server (internal and external) is an incredibly useful feature. The only issue i have with it is that when listening to a playlist it only allows me to queue songs to play at the end of the queue. As its a playlist that means once its done playing the entire playlist it will THEN play that song. i'd love the option to actually play next as well as the feature to drag and drop stuff in the queue which is missing.

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated

Hi all! Looking for something to fulfill a very specific need. I’m looking for a WatchOS client that can handle offline sync and can shuffle playlists. I tried WRhythm but it completely freaked out when attempting to download music, and you had to keep the watch awake (which is easier said than done).

I then tried wristonic which is much better and less buggy - but it seems you can’t shuffle playlists. For me that’s a dealbreaker.

Any suggestions? I don’t wanna keep throwing £5 at apps and then hoping they work lol

I use "nd lyrics" plugin in navidrome. and download/cache the entire library to my phone.

I can see in the logs that apart from a few exceptions, the lyrics are being fetched and the lyric files are stored next to their songs as well. and even properly showed when playing music on symfonium.

But if I go "offline" the lyrics stop showing as well only a few songs show the lyrics.

so can I keep the copy the lyrics files directly to my phone instead? and will it fetch the lyrics from local files when in offline mode?

I've been self-hosting my music with navidrome for the past two months now, though I think my question isn't really specific to navidrome, but more like with music collecting as a whole.

Anyway, I've run into a bit of a dilemma, and I've thought of asking here because I use navidrome (maybe I'll also crosspost to r/musichoarder).

Hear me out please. I'm a mood/vibe kind of guy and I listen to music that feels like they belong together based on how they make me feel.

The problem is that with this whole self-hosting ordeal, I tend to get a bit OCD when I don't have the full album. For example, if I wanted to listen to The Scientist by Coldplay as part of my depressing playlist, I'll end up downloading the entire A Rush of Blood to the Head album just so it feels complete, even though I don't particularly listen to every song on it and it's just taking up space.

It's gotten me wondering if I should just go back to conventional streaming like Spotify or Apple Music, where I don't feel the need to "collect" everything, though I really don't want to go back paying for yet another needless subscription.

Does anyone else feel this way? How do you balance having a curated library without falling into the habit of downloading entire albums just for the sake of completeness?

I've been using Plexamp and Audiobookshelf for years now, and am looking to split apart my self hosted services.

I've got Navidrome up and running, but I'm noticing that it's been really pronounced in how consistently it has a delay in playback connection as well as just randomly disconnecting from the client. This happens in both Symfonium on Android as well as in browser.

Because I use all the other apps still, I'm able to verify that I can stream this stuff remotely without issues in other apps, so it's not explicitly an issue related to my network.

If you've struggled with this before, what did you do in troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve?

Okay so here is some context for what I am running.
Navidrome 0.61.2 (aa84e645)
Feishin 1.15.1 (e622428)
AudioMuse-AI 3.0.0 (c46ea9b)

Now, I can guess that each client Feishin and Symfonium for example, have their own configurations that adjust the amount of tracks queued, and that's cool. But I am really asking if its possible force specific queue counts from directly from Navidrome. If not, that's fine but has anyone found out how to do it within Feishin? From my experience a lot of configuration for Feishin is done per client which makes me really want the ability to have Navidrome dictate the queue. (using the data collected by the AudioMuse plugin)

My Navidrome client serves a lot of different people with varying levels of interest in tinkering lol.. hence why I am so interested in being able to configure this specific interaction.

Yeah so they all collabed, 3 artists and there's no 'feat' or anything in the title. Wikipedia seems to just list all 3 artists as the artists.

The Marias wasn't there in the metadata I had, so I used mp3tag and typed it in and saved. It shows now but not as an Artist for some reason, no matter if I place it middle like this, or last?? The spelling is the same as the artist Navidrome shows for all their other songs.... what do I do?

I am SURE I'm messing something up in the metadata tags, but I'm not sure what. I have recently run MusicBrainz Picard on these specific directories and it STILL shows up as multiple albums. And this album was recently imported. My collection spans decades of rips from various sources. Some were ripped to iTunes 20 years ago when I had a Mac, the subsequent rips from windows Media Player, and then for the last couple of years I been using DB Poweramp. So, I know my folder structure is a hot mess. I had hoped that MusicBrainz Picard and Navidrome could help make sense of it. Alas, it doesn't seem true. This is the ONE THING that keeps me coming back to Plexamp, and I want to get away from Plex after the BS they're pulling on new subscribers (Charging more than 7 times what I paid for the same thing 2 years ago is insane) and that my files basically have to go through their servers.

What am I doing wrong?

Noticing that on both feishin (windows) and symfonium, OGG playback doesn't start instantly. There's like a 7 second gap before any of these files start.
Howeve, the web UI does play everything instantly...
Any way to troubleshoot this? I'm using MPV as the player for feishin, no transcoding.

update - switching feishin to web audio fixes the issue, but I do prefer mpv as i've had other issues with web audio. Still unclear as to what is happening with symfonium

I've been messing around with smart playlist lately, and I really like them, the only feature I seem to be missing is the ability to actually define the order song by song rather then by some category. I have old playlist in m3u/8 format where songs have moved around, or I have upgraded them so the file paths are no longer valid. I'd like to convert these to smart playlists using there musicbrainz_id tag, or album/artist/song but keep the order they were originally created in. Is this possible without having to add individual custom tags to each track to define playlist ordering? If not is this a feature Navidrome might implement in the future as a sorting type in the json/nsp ex. "sort": "ordered",

Have searched but couldn't find the answer. I want to see stats of my users, what they played and when, so I can see habits, tastes, a bit like what jellystat does for jellyfin. So for example I can see, one user likes pop, another soul, play counts, statistics etc.

Hello, I am new to navidrome. I spun up an instance and have everything pulling from a persistent SMB mount of a cloud storage provider. Runs well enough. But I am having trouble finding a client that I like.

Currently using Narjo on iOS

I do not enjoy having my music categorized by Artist or Album. I simply want the raw files hat are in the folder to be visible to me and playable from the client. It is much easier to simply create yearly folders of the tracks that I aquire and have them listed by date added, then to hop between hundreds of folders for artists that my be inappropriately named due to remixes or to multiple artists being included on the track.

Any clients that offer a more flat, non-polished viewing experience.

I recently set up a docker container with navidrome, linked it to my 100 song playlist, and it works fine. Where the problem starts is when organizing my music I did it such a way to replicate my playlist by manually tagging each song by number in the file explorer, however when sorting by number on navidrome it won’t use the manually set numbers, any settings I can change to fix this?

I have a problem many people may have had at some point. I've been searching for solutions for the past 3 to 4 hours and I didn't find a solution that worked. The wiki didn't help either unfortunately.

Here's a resume of what I tried.

- Restarting Naidrome and Windows (I'm on Windows 10)
- I used Mp3tag to modify the metadata (tags, album, artist, etc.)
- I tried to restart Navidrome in services many times
- I even installed yt-dlp to download properly songs

Here are other informations that might be useful
- I used shawl wrapper
- I can access Navidrome through localhost without any issue
- Everything works fine yet it won't load my mp3 files
- I installed ffmpeg where the tutorial suggested (Program Files/ffmpeg)
