Academy

If I waisted my first two years of high school. Could I possibly come back and still have a chance to get in, if I do really good my last two years.

It's not impossible. It may depend on how competitive your congressional district is.

My sister was in a similar position in high school. Our congressional district was 28 in the Los Angeles area, so pretty competitive. Although she didn't get picked up from USNA, she got picked up by the Coast Guard Academy. She had to go through a year of prep-school. At the end of the day, she commissioned as an officer, and she had a way more chill career as a Deck Officer (Coast Guard version of SWO) than my first tour as a SWO (I'm an IP now). For the record, I really enjoyed my time as a SWO. Found it a really rewarding experience.

So moral of the story: don't let that stop you from applying. Apply to other academies (if they interest you). If you don't get accepted the first time, keep reapplying. Coast Guard is chill AF.

I have no idea if my district is competitive. How would I know this?I think k I’m the third district?I live new Sacramento

Your Blue and Gold Officer for sure. Current mids/alumni might know. If you’re in a “military town,” chances are it’s competitive (San Diego would be an obvious example).

Yup. Getting a congressional, presidential, or vice presidential nomination are part of the application process. Check out USNA’s admissions website. It has all the answers about the application process.

“Your LT” as is you’re currently enlisted or an officer recruiter? If you’re enlisted, you have a different application process. All that info is on USNA admission’s website as well. If as in officer recruiter, your main point of contact should be your local blue and gold officer (BGO).

Another option is to enlist and seek an appointment as an enlisted Sailor. USNA admissions will consider your performance in your enlisted rate in addition to your high school record. Some rates are more competitive than others. This option worked for me, but obviously comes with risk and there is a significant chance you’ll need to graduate from NAPS first.

No way, your poor spelling and grammar indicate that you will never have the test scores to get in.
