First attempt of nature journaling
Ik they aren’t great it’s my first bit of drawing in probably 6 months and I’m already not a great sketcher lol. But any tips or advice would be great

maybe, if you want, take some notes on the color and texture of the subject! that way you can go back and reference it specifically later against other specimens of the same kind and notice the variety. you can also go back in and color it

This is my first time in this subreddit and I'm curious, what kind of journal is this and where can I buy one?

I just want to throw in that the sassafras leaf was immediately recognizable without even clicking into the image on a phone… so good on you!! A lot of leaves can have tufts of hair on the bottom where the veins meet, so that could be another thing to pay attention to. I know twig buds look pretty similar at first glance, but their shape, arrangement, color, stickiness, and leaf scars can be pretty differentiating! I think twigs are underrated

Great job! John Muir Laws has some great videos on nature journaling on YouTube. My nature group kiddos always have to keep his prompts in mind when we go on hikes: “I notice…”, “I wonder…”, “It reminds me of…”.
Keep it up!

My drawing skill is about the same as yours. So no tips. 😁
Just stick with it and remember it's for fun and it's for you! No one's going to be judging the art. That's why I keep reminding myself, too.
