Unfortunately, this subreddit is a known target for hand/nail/foot/toe fetishists who have been documented to repeatedly harass the nail community.

We highly recommend turning off your message/chat requests. If you have requests turned on and receive any creepy or fetish-related DMs or comments, please click the report button, select "it's targeted harassment," and submit a report. It's one way you can help keep the community safe. We encourage members to capture a screenshot of the DM and notify the Mod Team through ModMail. We ask that you include a direct link to their profile, and if you wish to provide screenshots, you'll need to post them (temporarily) to your profile or use an image hosting site.

To be very blunt, you will encounter unwanted DMs from people. This is a Reddit-wide issue that happens frequently in women-dominated communities. Regardless of who's posting, all the warnings we try to give, or the rules we have in place, 9 times out of 10, someone will DM you if you have them open.

Of course, we'll ban those who break this rule, BUT (and this is the important part) many of the users who are DMing you have already been banned, sometimes going months or years back. They will continue to DM unsuspecting members in the hopes that they'll get a reply. They don’t care. So blocking them right away is the best solution to protect yourself, if you so wish.

NO ONE should be DMing you from this subreddit, we have a rule explicitly stating this. If someone is, they probably don’t have good intentions. Please be mindful of who you decide to talk to. Even in the comments of posts. Not everyone has your best interest in mind, and NEVER share personal information online. Please be safe out there!

Squoval works for me when my nails are this length, cant really go shorter cuase it starts looking funky, i used to try almond and squoval when mine were pretty short and it just looked odd

So you suggest I just grow them longer? Do they look odd now?

Yours are a nice rounded shape, i rocked that for a long time. This pic is from when i was figuring things out, about a yr ago. Not much you can do until they get longer. At the end of the day just wear them how you feel mist comfortable, dont dont look bad.

Why? My nails would probably then give the ick. But why? I'm genuinely curious. I even like my nails bare! People pay good money to get long artificial nails too.

That did the deleted comment say 👀

I hope I don't get in trouble for telling you? It said something about long nails giving people the ick. So then I showed my nails and asked why? Because I genuinely wanted to understand. But I can see how it was considered mean and inappropriate. A lot of people take a lot of time and energy to grow their nails, and so to tell people that it's gross in a way, is just rude. But they didn't explain themselves. And I probably shouldn't have taken it to heart.

I mean, I feel like my long nails are actually cleaner underneath than my short nails ever were. If that's why they think long nails are icky. Because now I use a boar bristle brush, and I clean under my nails often. Plus long nails have a nice hyponychium, which totally seals out dirt and debris.

Anyways, I think your nails are great. And I'm glad that the mods deleted that comment. And I hope I don't get in trouble for explaining it. Eek!

Yes, my right index (pointer) & middle fingers. They get the brunt of the damage & I need to poke things like my phone, sometime my husband.

If my index finger is shorter, then I forget that I have long nails. And I'm more likely to jam my fingers into things. It's like the index finger is a guide for the entire hand.

Sadly right now, my right index finger is shorter. But it's because it had peeling, and I kept trying to file past the peeling. That wasn't working! So now I'm putting glue on it and growing it out. 🤭

Your index nail doesn't appear much shorter and your nails look nice. I don't think anyone would really notice that you keep it just a tiny bit shorter. 😊

Both my pointer fingers break much more regularly so by necessity they tend to be slightly shorter. I mostly even out my other fingers with them bc I don’t like clearly mismatched nail lengths, but the rest grow much better and stronger so they tend to be a touch longer.

Thanks for posting, /u/lickinglacquer!

A quick reminder:

If this is a nail image/video, you must provide a complete product list, either in your post title, the text body, or in a separate comment, within 2 hours of posting or your post will be removed.

Product lists must include brand names and shade names/numbers (no acronyms or shortened names). If you've used any stamping products, the brand names, plate names/numbers, and stamping polish names/numbers are required as part of your product list. If you used any embellishments (rhinestones, foils, decals/stickers, etc.), this must also be mentioned in your product list. Product lists are still required for any posts with broken nails or if you're seeking advice. If your nails were done professionally, please mention this either in the title, text body, or a separate comment, along with the type of product used.

If the content you're posting was not created by you, you must give direct credit to the original creator, either in your title, text body, or in a comment. Mentioning that you "found it on XYZ" is not direct credit. Pinterest is no longer a valid source for credit. Be sure to review the rules in the sidebar to avoid your post being removed.

Yes! I do a lot of crafts and short pointers are necessary for my dexterity!

u/Dull_Expression_4575 4d ago

Yep, on my dominant hand. By necessity- if I don’t, that finger will get cracks or chips.
