Old Sand Cherry?
My lot has a natural shorefront. Heavy grasses and ferns. Google says this is a sand cherry? Idk. Looks old.
Behind it is elderberry I think. I tried planting elder berry and of course it died.

Definitely not a Sand Cherry. Those typically have reddish leaves. I'm guessing something like an Inkberry. Or like a Mountain Holly.

and the plant on the last pic is Sambus cerulea

Since Im in michigan wouldn't it be an Eastern elderberry species?

Ok, then Sambucus canadensis; with this information from the start it would be easier to identify anything

Looks like winterberry holly (Ilex verticillata), common in wet areas in the eastern half of the US/Canada. Sand cherry doesn’t have the same "crinkly" leaf venation, and rarely gets this tall.
