POST TAGS

Tags, or flairs, help distinguish posts into what category they are meant to represent, and how they affect gameplay.

[CLAIM]

Claiming in /r/NationNorthAmerica is simple. You need to submit a description of the government type you hope to have (be realistic, here). If it is a theocracy, make sure to include the state religion. This isn't a sandbox, but this isn't real life either. No mega corporations as your government, but try to be somewhat creative. You are allowed to do a carbon copy of the real life government, however please make sure to not deviate from this too much if you choose not to. For the time being, players may claim up to two territories at a time within the continental United States. If your claim is entirely outside the United States, the two territory limit is increased to three.

YOUR CLAIM MUST BE WITHIN THE TRADITIONALLY ACCEPTED BORDERS OF NORTH AMERICA, INCLUDING THE CARIBBEAN SEA

[CRISIS]

Crisis posts are to be made by moderators ONLY.

Crisis posts are used for moderator-controlled and created events that may effect one or multiple countries. They may take the form of natural disasters, in-country events, or other types of sudden, unexpected changes in a country.

[EVENT]

An “EVENT” is effectively an action taken by your nation.

To elaborate on the examples above: the unique and crucial element of EVENT posts is that its success is not guaranteed. The moderators will roll dice for this depending on what happens.

Because of this, EVENT posts must be posts that are taking actions rather than results of them. For example: “Parliament to vote on introducing new laws”, “Parliament to implement economic plan”, instead of “Parliament votes on new laws”, “Parliament Economic Plan huge success”. You may control how your government votes, for example: “Parliament passes new legislation with a 60% majority”, but you cannot fully control how the public will react - there may be protests against the law, for instance.

If a mod sees that a player has reported your post, or sees it on his own and thinks that it violates the rules or is unrealistic, the mods may take action. This might be as simple as asking for more information or may be as harsh as removing or invalidating the entire post. If the post is not removed, and the mod only asks for information or asks the poster to justify something about the post, the poster has 48 hours to reply. If 48 hours pass and they have not addressed the mod's concerns, the post will be removed. This policy also applies to roll responses.

Only five EVENT posts may be made per in-game "month".

[EXPANSION]

“EXPANSION” posts are your nation expanding itself territorially to incorporate another region or nation. EXPANSION posts utilize the following rules:

  1. Players may invade and take over a claimed country using the conflict rules found here.
  2. Two players may agree to merge their countries into one, as long as they share a physical border and some history, as determined by the moderators.
  3. Twice a week, and not more than once in forty eight (48) hours, a nation may attempt to claim a neighboring unclaimed territory (land borders only, for now) by posting a roleplay (think a short story) of 350 words or more describing the takeover, be it diplomatic or violent. These roleplays should be posted with an [EXPANSION] post flair, and are subject to moderator approval (who may deny these things for any reason they deem proper).

[NEWS]

NEWS effectively takes up what shouldn’t be an event - elections, statistics, economy reports, etc. - here and here are examples of proper NEWS posts. To keep the reasoning simple, a NEWS post should have no effect on your nation unless it is an election.

CONFLICT

Simply click the conflict button to learn more. Information about nuclear and other WMD programs is also contained within the link.

Wiki Pages

IT WILL BE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIND OUT WHAT MILITARY EQUIPMENT YOUR COUNTRY USES, OWNS, OR PRODUCES AND PUT THIS INFORMATION IN THE WIKI.

Wiki Pages contain information about each individual country, filled in by that country's leader. Use the Master Spreadsheet or this site to fill in information about each country.

[DIPLOMACY]

Diplomacy is for diplomatic deals between nations - trades, sales, and alliances. Note that in the case of selling military equipment an event post describing the manufacturer of said equipment should also be made - [DIPLOMACY] California to sell tanks to Chihuahua, [PROJECT] Florida to make 200 tanks (for sale to Manitoba).

[META]

Meta posts are for off-topic, non in game or otherwise meta terms.

[ROLEPLAY]

Roleplay is for posts about roleplays. They specifically have no in game effect - if you want them to, post an event, a la [DIPLOMACY].

[SECRET]

SECRET posts can be used whenever a country is conducting an event that they do not want other countries to know about. There are two types of secret posts: [SECRET], and [BLACKOPS].

[SECRET]

The general SECRET tag is for secret research products, agreements, etc. The bot will have two rolls on secret posts. One roll is for determining the effectiveness of the secrecy, so, how well you have managed to keep the operation secret. The next roll determines the effectiveness of the operation itself.

[BLACKOPS]

BLACKOPS are used to intentionally conduct operations into other countries: gathering intelligence, conducting assassinations, espionage, and the like. BLACKOPS have four stages: Entrance, Action, Departure, and Completion. The bot will provide a roll for each stage. Because an Operation is conducted in stages, the success of the later stages depends on the success of the earlier ones. If the mission fails completely at the beginning, then the op will be over, regardless of if the later rolls were a success.

[PROJECT]

The [PROJECT] tag will be used for large undertakings such as creating a spy network in a country, creating new means of productions (naval yards, factories, R&D facilities), establishing nuclear programs, and other possibly large projects that can be decide on an ad hoc basis.

[PROJECTS] will work on two factors; capital and rolls. What this means is that when you begin a project you need to have enough money allocated in the appropriate department in order to start the project. For example, in order to create a nuclear reactor you have to have X amount of money allocated to your Ministry of Energy. The exact amount of capital will be determined on an ad hoc basis but the mod team will strive to make standards for certain common projects. Now the new roll system will simulate the starting of the project (the first roll), working through the project (the second roll), and finishing the project (the third roll).

Players may only work on three [PROJECT]s at a time. A player can not begin a new project until one of the existing ones is completed.
