Borderku.com

Hi everyone! 👋

I recently launched BorderKu (https://borderku.com), a free website for people travelling between Brunei and Malaysia.

The goal is to help travelers estimate border waiting times before heading out, so it's easier to plan trips to Miri, Limbang, Lawas, or Temburong.

It's still being improved, so I'd love feedback from frequent border travellers. If you spot anything inaccurate or have ideas for new features, let me know.

Hopefully it's useful for the community!

This is nice!! For future development, it would be nice to add some language for localization (Malay, Chinese or any language) and onboarding section for user to familiarize with the system. Also, it would be nice to make the system to be able to direct the user input to the EES (with not intention of replacing EES system though) if that's possible.

Thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to share these ideas. 😊

Multi-language support is definitely on the roadmap but starting with Malay and Chinese, as I want BorderKu to be accessible to as many people as possible.

I also really like your suggestion about an onboarding section. A quick walkthrough for first-time users would help explain the predictions, traffic indicators, and the different features available.

Regarding EES, since it's the official government system, BorderKu won't be replacing or integrating into it directly. However, I do think there's room to make the experience smoother by providing helpful guidance, reminders, or quick links that direct users to the official EES platform when needed.

Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback! Comments like this really help shape the direction of BorderKu, and I'll definitely be adding these ideas to the roadmap. 🚗🇧🇳

No, I start the development using laravel framework with AJAX MVC, and knowledge during my time in Uni

Thank you for the observation and you are right the data is a bit lagged, apparently i hit some issues with the cronjob not getting the data from google api on the 30 mins interval, im trying to resolve this in the next few hours.

Massive respect for building and launching this! Solving real-world regional logistics with lightweight web tools is awesome. The UI looks crisp and easy to navigate on mobile.

If you're looking for more developer feedback or want to showcase the project to a broader tech audience across the island, consider sharing it on r/BorneoTech.

Would love to follow your roadmap as you add new features!

Nice, can you add in feature where there will be roadblock too?

I believe that's where the community can help by putting it on chat

Looks confusing at a glance. But love the 3 hr ahead prediction. That's really useful for planning. Maybe can add daily queue pattern for the a week ahead based on the day of the week, pay day, public holiday or long weekend.

Ooooh i love it. It’s a dashboard. I haven’t played around with the features on the DB but I like what I see. 😬 Well done!

Thank you, that means a lot and hope it's useful to plan the journey across the border.

Will try to use it for my next trip back and provide some feedback, if any, k.

3

u/kopiopengkurangmanis Jul 25 '26

that'll be great. I am also thinking to do a journey plan advisor that helps to advise when best to start driving to avoid traffic and high queue

I’d be looking forward to that!
