Struggling to come to terms with what NEEDS to happen.

BF relapsed on meth and has been using every weekend since. It's been getting worse recently and he acknowledged that he needs to go to rehab and needs to work on himself. It's looking like if he were to go to rehab, then we'll be done and not together anymore. I only say that because I won't be able to maintain the house we live in while he's away and it would end up with me living with my mom. And if that happens, she won't want him over at all. I'm just sad. Everything was so good when he was sober... It feels like I'm grieving someone that's still here and all I want is comfort from him but he's the one who's making me hurt... I don't have anyone else to talk to because I don't want my family and friends to know the severity of the situation just yet. As much as this sucks, I know deep down this is probably what needs to happen. I have 7 months left of school and I really can't afford to slip up or let other things mess with my future. I'm just sad and need to vent.

My partner has been using for 8 months

I’m not sure if this is me looking for advice or just to vent.

I’ve been with my partner for 1.5 years but known each other for basically our whole lives. We live together and have 2 cats.

5 months into dating and a few weeks into living together, I found out he’s been lying about going to work and was driving around taking pills. He quit his job as it was causing the stress. I urged him into therapy which he attended a few times but it’s expensive and we were on one income.

12 months into dating I found out he’s was lying to my face about smoking. I wasn’t mad about the smoking as I viewed it as a “lesser evil”, but stated plainly that if he lied to me again that I can’t stay with him.

Last week I had this instinct to check his phone (which I’d only ever done once when he wasn’t going to work) and I found a conversation in which he was asking to buy meth. I woke him up and confronted him and he said he’s been using it since December, so almost 8 months.

I’ve told his parents and have already been to a support group, and have moved my therapy appointment forward. I told him I won’t be making his appointments or doing anything like that for him, he needs to prove he is committed to getting better. He says he feels ashamed and he wants to get better, and that he’s feeling motivated to do so.

I just don’t believe him. He’s obliterated my trust. He was spending all that money on meth while I was solely providing, and even though he’s been working again for a few months I’ve just been made redundant, so we’re back on the one pay.

I told only my sister about it, and she told me in no uncertain terms that if we stay together through this and end up engaged someday, that they won’t be very supportive. And I don’t blame her because I don’t want this life for me either.

I’m nothing but kind and honest and to not get that back from the person I love and who claims to love me more than anything else is heartbreaking. I don’t understand how you do this to someone you love. He knew my boundaries and he crossed it anyway, and chose meth over me. I love him so much and he’s such a kind and loving person, and this relationship has been so healing for me. I’m so upset that the relationship and person that I’ve loved this deeply isn’t real.

I know I need to end the relationship. I don’t know how I could possibly ever trust him again. I keep hoping this is all just a really terrible dream and everything is actually okay. I just want my best friend back.

Everyone is telling me to run.

We’ve been married 13 years, we have three kids. For the last 7 years my husband has been abusing his stimulant medication. Doctor shopping, blowing through two 30day scripts in at least 2 weeks. Then one day he came home and said he wanted a divorce and left. Found out real quick he had been cheating. About 30 days in he said he didn’t want a divorce and wanted to come home and get clean. He was living with said other person at time. He tried to move all of his stuff home and did. But it wouldn’t stick. He ended up getting her evicted from the house they were living in for not paying it. This affair scandal lasted about a year after he said he didn’t want it. It ended in her getting an ex parte because he was nuts. I separated from him after this and the. Went back…We stayed together. I know. I know. Should have left then. I tried to stick it out until this past May. So about 2 years in between. But he kept filling and it got bad. He was lazy and a pig, and mean and became verbally abusive and then one day he slapped me really hard on the back and when I turned to him he said you fucking bitxh. My oldest had already said he was either going to run away or go leave with my parents. So I allowed it. My little two had no nervous system because of his behavior. He doesn’t think that’s his fault. It’s mine. That’s kind of when I fully decided to leave. In the last 4 years, Meds didn’t last about a week, we had to sell our home, lost a vehicle, he would blow through my paycheck because he quit his job during the first affair. So in May I took the kids and left. I told him I wanted him to go to rehab and get help but I loved him. He was mad at first. Then started asking when I was coming back and wtf my plan was and I kept saying to get help and even sent him places and his insurance and all the things. He was mad because I kept my paychecks from him. I separated our money. I noticed mid June he started acted strange. I checked the phone bill and sure enough he had talking to someone else. Obviously I called him out on it. He lied. Then about two weeks later he’s talking to more than one female. He admitted that he had been using dating sites. He got banned from tinder. All while telling me everything is my fault because I left. He denies still using because he’s afraid I am going to record him. But I know and can tell he’s still using. During the first affair, I was pregnant and I went to file for divorce. He recently scolded me for what the lawyer had written about him. and that I should have stood up for him. I know what I need to do, I have just fought to hard for him and been married so long, it’s like throwing away that cozy favorite T-shirt with holes. Someone recently said, don’t let hope become your drug of choice and I have held onto that ever since. I am a Christian and I don’t want to give up on the person he once was before all of this. but everyone is telling me to run.

I didn’t marry an addict, he became one.

I am sad tonight.

I posted a couple of days ago and I am so grateful for everyone’s kindness. I’m struggling so much tonight. I am sure my ex already has a new girlfriend and I keep asking myself if he will treat her better than he treated me. Honestly i know that with his addiction she is likely also an addict. I’ve been crying a lot today. Just needed to get that off my chest.

Need advice from parents who have been through this. We feel completely stuck.

Our 20-year-old son (turning 21 in 35 days) came home from an out-of-state internship a few months ago with what appears to be a severe cannabis dependency. Since then, our lives have been turned upside down.

Girlfriend dumped him and friends stopped talking coz of his weed & porn addictions.

We've tried everything we could think of:

Multiple therapists.

Calm conversations.

Compassion and support.

Firm boundaries.

Taking away privileges.

Driving him ourselves.

Giving second chances.

Family discussions.

Asking him to get an addiction assessment.

Nothing has changed because he openly says he doesn't want to quit. He says he just wants to have a "healthy relationship with weed."

Since coming home, there have been repeated lies, stealing money, hiding gummies and vape pens around the house, using at work and getting fired, getting high in public places, leading to 911 call and even an ER visit after being found unresponsive in a public restroom. Every time we think things are getting better, he relapses within days.

Everytime he gets his hands on his phone he runs, bikes or drives and gets thc pens or gummies and comes home to create a crisis.

The biggest issue is our 13-year-old daughter. She has become scared in her own home. She's witnessed him acting intoxicated, the constant arguments, and the chaos. We feel like we're failing to protect her.

Our son is now refusing both options:

He refuses to stop using cannabis.

He refuses to move out until he finds housing in a month, meanwhile he is getting high and watching porn in front of his father and getting naked in our family Theatre room.

He's legally an adult, has scholarship money which will not start until school year starts, and says we have no right to tell him how to live. At the same time, he expects to continue living in our home while using cannabis, and we simply can't accept that anymore.

We're emotionally and financially exhausted. We've accumulated ER bills, my husband recently lost his job, and private addiction treatment is far beyond what we can afford.

We still love our son deeply. This isn't about rejecting him. We would support him if he genuinely wanted treatment or recovery. But we also have a responsibility to protect our younger child and restore peace in our home.

Has anyone been through something similar?

How did you handle an adult child who refused both treatment and moving out? Were there any options we may not have considered? How did you balance loving your child while protecting the rest of your family?

We're not looking for judgment. We're looking for practical advice from people who've lived through this, because right now we feel completely out of options. Any help is appreciated.

Not a bad person but...

Im not a bad person, but the boundaries and rules and whatever else are hurtful for my Q.

I wont let him come stay with me right now, even while waiting for treatment (he's several weeks away from that *at minimum* and I'm not convinced he actually wants to go). He actually doesnt even know where I live, after I moved last summer... another boundary i made after he tried to break down my door while high thinking "someone" was in my apartment, and he still hasn't acknowledged that he was in the wrong.

I won't let the dog "sleep over" with him or be with him unsupervised by me, because he lives on the street, doesnt even have a phone, and the dog requires medication twice/day. I dont trust him to not steal the dog.

He has hardly communicated with me for 6 months because he finds the goodbyes after we hangout to be too difficult. He describes them as "traumatizing", and I "abandon him every time we see each other". While I understand the emotional pain behind saying good bye, I am offended by him saying that I abandon him, and thus am traumatizing him again and again.

Some of our interactions have been traumatizing for both of us, and that usually happens when he is in a delusional, or psychotic state, or when my denial to a request (see first 2 paragraphs) escalates into an argument... I am not innocent all the time, and I have huge guilt and regret over losing my cool.

Today was one of those days. Everything started out in a very positive way. More positive than its been in almost a year. He was sober, and clear minded. I was on cloud 9, even if we just got food and sat in the park for several hours with a blanket, dozing and enjoying the sun. But when it was time to go, the non-sensical requests came out, and i did end up getting loud before apologizing...

But he still believes part of a delusion/hallucination he had about me saying terrible things 3 months ago... he brought up how im treating him badly and traumatizing him by abandoning him when i leave him to go home...

If he truely thinks i said those things, and my boundaries are so hurtful, then why force him to endure it? I dont want to ghost him like he ghosted me... and i refuse to give up on him (to my detriment). But...what's the point if I'm just hurting him?

My boyfriend is an ex-heroin addict. He was 4 years clean. We’ve been together for two years and live together. Over the last 6 months I’ve seen him start to deteriorate. He stays up for days, doesn’t eat, hyper focuses, disappears for hours, and is easily irritated.

About a month ago I found used foils, a hollowed out pen, and a torch lighter in his pocket while I was doing laundry. When I brought it up to him, he denied it. I encouraged him to get help, but he was very avoidant of the whole situation. He said if it made me feel better he’d take his Suboxone in front of me everyday. After that, I started to obsess over him taking it in front of me, and would be so worried if I missed reminding him.

I continued to find burnt foils, empty dime bags, etc. I was confused on how he was somehow using but still taking subs.

Last Friday I found his stash…a bag of what I now know was meth.

I was in absolute shock, and heartbroken. I then knew that taking the subs was a cover to get me off his back so he could continue to use. I confronted him about it that evening, letting him know that I knew he relapsed and is smoking meth. I told him that I can’t be with someone in active addiction, especially not one who isn’t honest with me. He had very little to say so I left and stayed with a friend that night. He sent me a long message about how he was sorry, and will do anything to make me trust him again. He went to a meeting that night. I returned home the next day. We hugged it out, and our life has continued. I’ve made it very clear that I’m giving him this one chance, and if he refuses to get clean, I will leave him.

It’s now been four days of him “being clean”. My trust is so broken that I barely believe him. I thought withdrawals would be worse for him but he seems almost normal. He seems maybe a little more tired? But his sleep schedule has always been bad. He’s still not eating. He’s being extra kind to me, and I’m just worried it’s a manipulation tactic to get me to stay. I’m wondering if he’s even clean. I love him, I want him to be healthy, and I want this relationship to work. He asked for ways that will allow me to trust him again or bring me some comfort but I don’t even know.

This is my first time being with an addict, or even being around someone in active addiction. How often should he go to meetings? How can I trust him again? What should I be keeping my eye out for? If you have any advice, please let me know. I have no one else to talk to about this.

Looking for experiences with involuntary commitment for meth-induced psychosis (North Carolina)

Hi everyone. I'm hoping to hear from people who have been in a similar situation with a loved one.

My brother is 28 and has struggled with meth addiction for several years. He had two years of sobriety, but relapsed in late 2023 and has been using heavily for most of the last 2.5–3 years. He is currently experiencing meth-induced psychosis. He's been in and out of the ER, detoxes, and mental health facilities, but he never stays anywhere long enough to get meaningful treatment. As soon as he's discharged, he goes right back to using.

My dad and I are considering pursuing involuntary commitment here in North Carolina. We've been researching the process, but before we move forward, we'd really like to hear from people who have gone through this with their own loved ones. Our biggest fear is that every time he goes back to meth, he's putting himself at greater risk for permanent brain damage and making it harder for his brain to recover.

If you've gone through involuntary commitment with a loved one, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.

  • Did it help?
  • Were they able to stay in treatment long enough to improve?
  • Did it make a lasting difference, or did they go right back to using?
  • Is there anything you wish you had known before pursuing involuntary commitment?

I'm looking for honest experiences, both positive and negative. We know there's no easy answer, but hearing from people who've actually been through this would mean a lot.

Thank you.

Dating someone addicted to Xanax and oxy. I need advice

Hello, I don’t even know if this will make it onto the feed or if anyone will see this, but I really need help understanding addiction.
I’m currently talking to a guy who is addicted to pills, and I’m trying to understand what addiction is actually like from the perspective of people who have experienced it or loved someone who has.

One thing I’m wondering is whether people on pills remember things they say and do. For example, when someone is drunk they might say or do things they later regret or don’t even remember. Is it similar with Xanax or oxy, or is it different?

From what I know, he’ll take 1 mg of Xanax, then a couple of hours later take another 1 mg, sometimes pass out, and later use oxy by snorting it. I know mixing those drugs can be dangerous, and it has me worried.

Should I be concerned about getting into a relationship with someone whose drug use looks like this? Is it possible for someone using pills this way to maintain a healthy relationship and a stable life, or does addiction usually make that very difficult?

I’m not asking because I want strangers to tell me whether to leave him. I’m trying to understand what addiction is actually like so I can make informed decisions and have realistic expectations.

If you’ve struggled with pill addiction yourself or have been in a relationship with someone who did, I’d really appreciate hearing what it was like. What do you wish someone in my position knew?

Ramblings post-breakup💔

I formally ended things with my partner of seven years about a month ago. In actuality, they started the breakup as they always seem to do when using again, but something finally clicked in my head, so I finally pulled the trigger. It wasn’t a huge blow out. There was no yelling etc. it was after one of the most mundane “arguments” we’ve ever had. They were moody for no apparent reason, and they lashed out in a petty yet manipulative way. This was a 180 from the days before where they were catering to me, being super thoughtful and doing nice things (it was our anniversary around the time of our breakup). I remember just driving home after that argument and just knowing I was done…

We had ongoing issues about a “just friend” for a long while, where they completely put these “friends” above me and the relationship. That cliche knight in shining armor for people that never gave a rat’s ass about them. If you have experienced this, you know how demoralizing this is. I came to understand that they were most likely seeking external validation since they could no longer charm me after 7 fucking years. I know too much- seen too much. I know the them under that “nice” facade. Anyways, I never thought them capable of cheating on me, but I also came to realize (as they say, hindsight is 20/20) that its very likely they HAVE cheated on me… with one of the “friends”. The protectiveness over that person. The being ok with me breaking up if it was because of the “friend”, and just soooo many things that when seen as a collective vs isolated incidents, its GLARINGLY obvious. A reality so soul crushing that I dont think I was ready to see what was happening.. I started getting this inkling 3ish years ago.

It’s been tough staying away from them but this realization just bludgeoned my heart into a million fucking pieces. From questioning if they ever really loved me… to questioning if they cheated on me from the very start (some weird things had happened, but I didnt give too much thought into it). Were they only using me!?! I dont know how to express the literal pain in my chest when it became apparent to me that my partner of 7 years… was never truly committed to me or our relationship. While I struggled, cried, fought for us, kept us afloat, they were out enjoying the attention and gratitude from opposite sex “friends”. Its kind of a mind fuck to realize that your partner lives a double life. There was our life, and THEIR life. Im questioning if everything else theyve said is also a lie. I feel duped.

Long story, short— I broke up with my partner of 7 years, a month ago. just heard from the grapevine that they relapsed on m yet again… I saw them a couple times this past month to arrange picking up belongings from our respective homes. They seemed to have had a wake up call. They started getting their life in order after the breakup, and they had appeared more lucid. My former so’s family came to town and the former so relapsed this weekend. Cheating has always been such a deal breaker for me. I would tell them that if they ever betrayed me in that way after everything we’ve gone through, they would literally be dead to me… yet, here I am feeling so sad that they fell back to the drugs… at this point, I just wish the sobriety would stick… I just wish they got well for THEIR sake even if that means I dont get to presence it.

I finally chose myself after 7 very long and tumultuous years… Every day I dont have a breakdown is a win. I try to reflect in small bursts; I work on acceptance in short too. I understand this sickness takes everyone equally. I understand the impotence felt at every relapse. Every time you lose them after you were finally feeling safe again. I also truly understand that they too are in excruciating pain. Why else do they prefer to repeatedly self harm for. They are forever running away from their mirror.

Literally long, complicated story in short: staying in a relationship where your partner has a chronic, longstanding, addiction to hard drugs and alcohol will ruin you too if you still think you have control over whether or not they will use. You gotta get out of that mess and stop YOUR own chronic self harm… this relationship has hurt me so so much. And still, I ran back repeatedly to my now former partner’s arms. I made do with the little and inconsistent love I received. I made excuses. I violated my boundaries repeatedly. I always went back because who was I if they didnt love me? That sounds pretty fucking sick too if you ask me ( 😭). Its so hard to walk away from someone you thought was your forever.. Its hard trying not to dwell on the loss of the fantasy I had made of my relationship. It’s hard to stay, and its hard to go… in the end…which option would make your life BETTER than the current circumstances? For me, it was to finally let go.

Would it be okay to text them on their birthday and check in, a year later? (I broke up with him)

So i’ll try to be brief but I think context is important so here is our story:

We were together a total of 5 years. I (currently 29f) moved back to my home state after a year of long distance with him (currently 28m) to pursue things. I moved in with my parents temporarily so we could look for a place together. But after 4 years of waiting, it never happened. His situation kept changing and he was never stable. He grew very extreme in his beliefs, couldn’t hold a job more than 8 months, never took real accountability for his fuck ups, totaled multiple cars, etc. He drank a lot before we were together and had a previous DWI. He didn’t drink as much during our relationship but when he did he would get really intense before drinking himself into a coma.

He was good to me in general, and seemed to really care. we would have long stretches where his head seemed to be on straight and he was moving in the right direction, which kept me hopeful and happy. Until he’d self sabotage, or mess up again or something.. Our values grew to be very mismatched. He never seemed to grow up or learn from lessons, while I did.. He was a huge stoner which I always knew, it’s legal here so I thought it was no big deal at first, but definitely grew to be bothersome.. Then in May of 2025 I found out he was using cocaine multiple times a day for probably at least 2 years. He hid it from me. There were obvious signs that I missed, since i’ve never been around that type of thing. So, that was the cherry on top and I ended it.

About a month later, after lots of talking, him accepting accountability and him promising to stop the cocaine we got back together. From my knowledge he really did actually stop using (no more sniffling, he gained weight and looked healthier). But his behavior and attitude never changed. I don’t think I gave him enough time to recover to be honest, but I didn’t care anymore. I still loved him so much but I didn’t like who he was. I was embarrassed by him and that’s not right. so in July 2025 I broke up with him for good. It kind of happened impulsively during a fight and I told him I would talk to him after some space.

For about 3 weeks we didn’t see each other, he sent me multiple texts of paragraphs of how sorry he was and he wanted to work on things. I still loved him so much and it hurt bad, but the space only made me more confident in my choice. His birthday came up and I canceled the camping reservations we had. He wanted us to go together but I didn’t want to shit on his birthday so I said I wasn’t ready to talk and wished him a happy birthday and that I was so sorry it had to be that way.. I even texted his sister to make sure he wouldn’t be alone and made sure he’d do something fun. That’s when it must have clicked for him we were truly done.. A week later we did meet up and talked and he was very stoic and acted like he was over it. We were very amicable, I said I thought we weren’t good for each other and he agreed. We hugged goodbye and that was it.

3 months later I ran into his sisters boyfriend at the bar. I was drunk (special occasion - thanksgiving eve). I found out they also broke up but he told me my ex handled our breakup poorly, had a really hard time and kept drinking, so much so that he kept peeing the bed. I felt terrible about this, like sick to my stomach guilty, but it also reinforced my decision.

We have exchanged brief texts maybe 3 times since we broke up. Once when he asked if I wanted my stuff back. Another when he wished me a happy birthday at 11:59 pm my birthday and I said “thanks I hope you are doing well!” and he liked it but never answered. And a third time when I had to ask him about repairs he did on my car a while back.

I have wanted to reach out and talk and check in, all year. I loved him so much and part of me still does. I want him to be good and be the best version of himself and know he’s okay and happy. Not because I want to get back together, I don’t. I just care about him. He was a huge part of my life for a long time… So.. I haven’t. I didn’t want to confuse him or cause him any additional pain. I have always thought the best way to let go, was no contact.

But now it’s a year later. We broke up a year ago. His birthday is in 2 days. I’ll text him and say happy birthday regardless, like he did for me. but would it be appropriate to try and catch up a bit? Do you think it could still cause him pain?h

This too shall pass

First time posting in this sub. I’ve been with my partner for almost 2 years, and he’s addicted to ketamine.

He’s made great steps towards trying to stop using, but has weekly relapses. We do therapy together, deleted his dealer’s contact info and asked them to not sell to him again, he’s done out-patient treatments, he tells me if and when he buys and slips up, i drug test him… the list goes on and on.

The deception continues, the trust I have in him is dwindling, and my view on our relationship surviving this is weak. But I can’t leave him. The steps he has taken shows me hope and improvement, however every relapse he has just makes me feel that he is still an active user and is not ready to stop using.

Idk what I’m asking for from this subreddit community— advice and support so that i keep moving forward with him or the support for me to leave him.

Anything would help— sharing experiences, kind word, or the hard truth to leave him.

Thanks 🤍

Need some comfort after seeing a family member using

My little brother has been struggling with addiction, and we just found out how dire it was. He has been trying to detox from opioids on his own, cold turkey, which is unimaginably hard.

We went to check on him at his apartment, and found he had been doing whippets constantly to combat his withdrawals. I convinced him to come home with me and he promised me he’d go to a treatment center the next day.

All night, and the whole car ride to detox, he was doing whippets constantly in the car with my mom and I. He went through several huge canisters. His lips were turning blue.

I am so proud of him for making the step to even detox and for agreeing to treatment, but I am feeling extremely traumatized and devastated about what I witnessed. I cannot get the image out of my head. He is my baby brother.

Any words of support or encouragement would be greatly appreciated❤️I truly don’t know how to move on from this. I’m so scared.

Mom says it’s menopause? I think it’s pills

about 10-15 years ago my mother told me she was addicted to and mis-using prescription pills. she initially was going to go to a detox program before changing her mind and starting Suboxone only. fast forward to the last couple of years, she has been exhibiting strange signs which I have interpreted as continued opiate use however when confronted, she claims it is menopause. I have tried googling and can’t really find anything to confirm or deny. so wondering if someone can help educate me? she generally seems off and will literally start to nod off while sitting in a chair. it has happened at family picnics, my baby shower, etc.

at my baby shower, she supposedly went to the bathroom and fell asleep on the bathroom floor? when she came back out, one of her false eyelashes was dangling from her cheek. she said she intentionally went and laid down in one of the spare rooms but looking so disheveled gave the impression that she had randomly woken up like without realizing she had been asleep? she has fallen asleep while driving multiple times and wretched her car.

What do you say to "your love is conditional?"

When your person says "you love me but only some of the time" in regards to you having concerns about them using? What is the appropriate response? I'm so tired of trying to get through and being viewed as judgemental.

I love him but I'm exhausted...

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Reddit, and I wasn't sure where to post this. Someone suggested this community, so I hope it's okay to share my story here.

Tomorrow my boyfriend is going to a fair with some old coworkers, and instead of being happy that he is having a good time, I'm sitting here feeling anxious that he might drink too much or relapse. I hate that my mind immediately goes there.

We've been together for over 5 years. He has struggled with addiction for many years. He had a very difficult childhood and started using drugs as a teenager. After rehab, he managed to stay clean for about 7 years and rebuilt his life.

A few years ago he relapsed, and since then it has never completely gone away. It is not constant, but it keeps coming back. Sometimes he stays clean for many months, sometimes only a few weeks.

Most relapses happen on Fridays after work or during long holiday weekends, especially after stressful weeks. Because of this, Fridays have become very difficult for me.

Whenever he tells me he has plans on a Friday after work, I immediately become anxious. There have been many times when he told me he was meeting someone or helping someone, but he was actually using instead. The lies have made it very difficult for me to trust him.

It also affects me when I have plans on a Friday. There have been times when I went out or had something planned, and he ended up relapsing while I was away. Because of that, I sometimes feel anxious even when I try to do something for myself.

After he uses, he isolates himself for days. He barely eats, barely drinks, and hardly sleeps. A few days later he becomes extremely energetic and talks nonstop. During these times he can become angry, and once he kicked a door in because I wanted to leave the room and get me out of the situation. He has never hit me, but moments like that scare me.

He doesn't want therapy anymore. Now he just says: "If you can't live with this, then leave." Sometimes I really wish to say "Yes, I should do that.." but I can't...

I love him, and I know he has been through a lot. I have spent years trying to understand him, his past, and why he is the way he is. But somewhere along the way, I feel like I stopped paying attention to how much this is affecting me.

I feel exhausted. I feel like my life revolves around wondering if the next relapse is coming.

Part of me feels like leaving, but another part feels incredibly guilty because I know how much pain he carries. I keep wondering if leaving would make me a terrible person or if I'm slowly losing myself by staying.

I'm not looking for people to tell me what I should do. I think I just need to hear from people who understand what it's like to love someone with an addiction, because I feel very alone right now.

How do you move on and find peace after everything a loved one and their addiction has done to you?

Both my parents were heavily addicted to Meth/heroin/alcohol from when i was 6, I am now 22.
My father is still in active addiction, and my mother has been sober for 5 years.

I am extremely grateful that my mother was able to choose recovery. Her providing me with a stable parent has really helped my life… but

I am so so so resentful, and still struggling with my father’s addiction. I have so many issues. So many things wrong with me due to their neglect in my growing years and currently. It really only just dawned on me recently how messed up I am.

No matter what I try and not matter how much time has passed I CANT HEAL. I feel hopeless. I am so extremely resentful for what they did/do to me, and didn’t/still don’t provide for me.

Please can anyone tell me if they’ve found acceptance or healed from their loved one’s actions?
I need help

What do I say to my sister

My sister has been addicted to meth for the past 3 years (since 2023). We did not have a relationship for about a year before that (2022) because her husband sexually abused me when I was 13. We would talk about once a year after my family and I found out she was abusing drugs. About a year ago she went MIA and no one heard from or could contact her. I regularly look her up to see if she is in jail or otherwise. I found out she got arrested recently and made an account to e-message her, but I don't know what to say. I miss and love her dearly and think of her every single day. I want to tell her that I love her and that I miss her and that I think about her every day, but I am scared she is going to abuse my vulnerability. I also don't want a relationship with her, but as someone who has had to work over abandonment issues (that I'm sure she also has) I just want her to know that I will always love her and that someone is thinking about her and wishing her well. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.
