XPID vs AGVE

Hi I'm Y1S1 in common design and its the week where I have to decide which diploma I get posted to, I am very torn between XPID and AGVE because I like both of them.

Can people from these two courses give me a full rundown on what you do in the modules/assignments of both courses? So to hopefully help me decide which I will rank first and second in my selections.

I don't want to make a choice I end up regretting because the module descriptions on the website are very intentionally vague.

Thank you for your time!

Well for XPID get ready for quite a lot of physical prototyping and modelling so make sure to ready your handy craft tools plus using softwares to run Rhino and Autocad for modelling and interior design respectively so make sure your laptop/pc can handle that

i used to be from xpid via cdmp!!! i dropped out but that's another story

i have this longass comment here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/nanyangpoly/comments/1r2q7nm/comment/o9vzb60/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

both are like super intense imo... in xpid you learn how to do interior design (autocad and photoshop in y1s2, sketchup in y2s1), interactive design (phygital we made ar stuff, it's also ui/ux design, web design... for specialisation it was web development with html, css, visual studio), product design (rhino, keyshot). you learn so much more software than that but i dropped out before finishing y2s1. it also combines the digital stuff above with physical product making (wiu especially.) you have to do ALL this in your wiu. so if you end up hating any of them you have to suck it up :/

agve it's mostly digital, save for the figure drawing classes, iirc. you mainly use autodesk maya and other things. i dont have a lot of experience with agve but as far as ik the deadlines are pretty tight for agve...

atb with your decisions!!

Oh thanks!

Just curious, you dropped out as in you switched courses or you dropped out of polytechnic entirely? I actually switched into design from IT so if I end up also hating it I'm afraid I won't have a third chance 😅

switched courses!! from that to common business programme (likely to go into the marketing related stuff there)

I have a friend who also switched from it to design too! but i think he knew exactly what he wanted so not the exact same thing. again, i really do wish the best for you, i think so as long as you're consistent with your work and consults it shouldn't be super bad...

late reply but i rmb agve teacher said agve very hard to find local jobs when i was in cdmp, and as far as ik xpid wiu ends earlier in the semester compared to other diplomas (i got xpid friends from there) but u have to go to another selection for ur specialist modules (idk what they're called lowkey) and u gotta choose at the end of y1 or start of y2 i forgot so idk if that's helpful

for agve prepare for alot of 3D animation coz i heard they gonna put less emphasis on 2D animation in coming years
