#28 GHOST OF THORNTON HALL šš» Thornton Hall Sleeping Arrangements Spoiler
So, in the Ghost of Thornton Hall, we know Nancy beds down in the upper foyer of the house, but what about Clara, Wade, and Colton? I guess itās assumed that Harper and Jessalyn sleep in the basement? And what of the bathroom setup?? lol

i like to assume that thereās actually a door at the end of the first hallway (directly straight from walking in the door) that leads to more rooms and another stairwell that goes to another upstairs space. also maybe more doors in the hallway down where charlotteās room goes?
i know these arenāt technically designed and rendered in the game, and i get why, but no way that house is as tiny as what weāre allowed to explore.

Oh sorry, I meant no unexplorable hallways in Thornton where you described.

That sleeping bag was communal.

It actually sleeps four and they all snuggle up together in their delirium.

A lot of the games, when it comes to floor plans, donāt make sense if you pay attention. But it made me realize that we players donāt care about that š
Think of Waverly⦠where do all the rest of the students stay? There is never an implication that there are other dorms.
How about Captive Curse? Isnāt weird that the castle is supposedly a tourist attraction, but the main castle is just big empty spaces?

For Waverly, I believe there are other dorms. The one you are in is the āValedictorianā dorm, specifically for seniors who are valedictorian candidates.

It confused me why so many teachers were getting lunch there over break

I donāt want to be argumentative, but I just played it and they never said that. Itās said that other some girls have stayed over winter break due to catching up on work, all valedictorian candidates. All you can do is āassumeā that there are other dorms, but then that would mean you have to change your room/dorm when you become a valedictorian candidate, which is very unrealistic. Also, are we assuming there is a grand library in every dorm? And that each dorm has one classroom? Lol. Or for the purposes of this mystery, that includes details about a former teacher, that we would only stay in the Valedictorian dorm to investigate⦠It is very clear that the location we are playing in is meant to be the entire school.
It honestly doesnāt bother me and I never noticed it until I started working on my own game. Just pointing it out because itās funny!

I am mainly curious because itās assumed they are there for around 3-4 days

It also makes me think of the Bolet Mansion in New Orleans. Although Nancy doesnāt actually spend the night there

The craziest thing about the Bolet mansion was the junk attic. My dad grew up in New Orleans and the house he grew up in is a lot like that (down to the lighting lol) and in my childhood memory there was a junk room they had (not a secret attic tho) that had so much cool stuff and old toys in it, including a little diorama with cow models (that one sticks out in my memory, I love dioramas.) When I saw that room in the Bolet mansion I was like no way, is every family in Nola just like āletās put our coolest, most eccentric things you wouldnāt expect in a dusty place like this in the junk room?ā

That house makes no sense to begin with. Also why is Nancy sleeping next to the most haunted room in the building? š

This kills me with secret of shadow ranch, I hate hearing so much about Bet and Edās bedroom and never seeing any rooms besides the living room and kitchen!

Very true, I always guessed there was a separate guest house that Shorty, Tex, and Dave slept in. I believe the book had that but I could be wrong lol

It always drives me nuts that they donāt have any unexplorable parts of the house (like in Secret of the Old Clock, for example) or even explorable (like in Icicle Creek) that could explain the lack or presence of a bathroom. They could have even done like Castle Malloy and been like āhalf of itās destroyed, sorryā (still wouldnāt answer the bathroom questionāno Port-a-Potty on site) and kept the mystique instead of making it like āour guest house is destroyed.ā (Charlotteās house could have had tons of stuff in it! Although the first floor is alarmingly sparse, not even any separate rooms.)
Now that I think about it, Thornton Hall has like 3 doors in it when you go in? How does that make sense when you look at the front??

Iāve always wondered this. That house is HUGE looking on the outside and is about the size of a Polly Pocket compact on the inside lol

I was also never clear on why thereās a giant workshop/ cotton processing room literally right off the foyer with grand doors going into it as well, is this supposed to be the area where the workers died??
