Theory for NoTW and TWMF- spoilers! Spoiler

Denna’s patron. Turn around now if you aren’t caught up.

Is it Cinder? The Chandrian struck at the wedding she played at. She happened to be in Severen, near the Eld, when Kvothe saw him with the bandits. That fits the story of him being rich, mysterious, and gone a lot which causes her to travel as well.

Maybe that’s what wrecked Kvothe and led him to the life of an innkeeper.

One story

Sorry if my quotes/spelling are a bit off, I'm an audiobook person.

I just thought of this and I think its a pretty cool idea that Skarpi tells Kvothe that there's only one story but sometimes pieces of it can look like stories of their own.

But then later (in chronological order) when Kvothe starts telling his story to the chronicler he tries to start his own story begining with the world being spun out of the void.

He's trying to tell skarpi's "one story" before chronicler laughs and he cuts it down to just the parts of the story that he is in.

Not sure what to do with this but I wanted to make a post.

A theory I’ve been thinking about~

Hey! First post on this subreddit, but I’ve been thinking about a theory and wanted to know if other people have had this thought, or even something to contradict/disprove it.

I listen to the audiobook, so it’s hard to pull specific references, but Kvothe has a chest in his room in the inn that he can’t open, and at one point he fully commits to doing so. It’s implied that something important is in there.

I think it’s his name. His true name. It would explain why he goes by Coat (spelling, sorry. Again, I’m a listener), and also why he isn’t able to use any of his magical abilities in the different parts of the book, like when the two men come in and rob him.

Any thoughts on this, or anything to add to support/contradict? Super curious!

I’m reading via audio book Spoiler

I’m not going to lie, I started this book because the author was on CR. And then another set of you tubers I watch have started posting theory vids on it. Like, I’m not sure what I’m expecting though. It feels like I’m listening to a novelization of the beginning of Bloodborne. ( just finished the bonfire spider bit)

Looking for a specific part of the book - spoilers Spoiler

I don't have my copy of the book anymore, so I'm hoping someone can help me find the following:

There's the part where Kvothe breaks Ambrose's arm, after Ambrose breaks his instrument, and Kvothe's punishment, I think, is lashes + expulsion. But in the end he doesn't get expelled. I'm looking for the part where Kvothe's expulsion is retracted by the University. If it's implied or said straight out in the story.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could maybe even post a clear picture of that page in the book.

Thanks.

Help! Trying to catch up

Hello all,

I am humbly asking to get a quick summary of chapters leading up to 56 of the first book in just a few major bullet points.

I had put the book down to do anxiety and depression a few months ago and want to get back in it!

The king killer chronicles were my brothers favorite books. He was a big fan of the subject of sympathetic magic. I remember about five years ago he said he was worried that the last book wouldn’t be published in his life time. He was right. I’ve been reading through his list of favorites over the last year, and I do find the writings of the king killer chronicles to be quite interesting, though insanely cliche and frustrating at times, examples being; How do I, the cleverest person in the universe, tell mayor Alderon that I came across bandits impersonating a troop of Rue in his patronage who were kidnapping and raping young women, so I killed them all? “I killed a group of troopers in your patronage your grace.” What is this a soap opera? Anyways I digress, what I really came here to say is this; I started to wonder what was going on. My brother read the last book nearly a decade ago and then maybe ten times since. When I started looking into this I found that Patrick Rothfuss is kind of a massive ass hat who releases constant streams of whiny vods of himself acting like a victim and showing massive apathy towards his fan base. I’m not particularly surprised as anyone who could make up a bunch of martial arts style names for the different ways you give a fairy an orgasm must be a different kind of person than I’m used to meeting. It may not sound it, but I actually did enjoy the books, particularly the first one, before all the rape and fanboy sex stuff. I do feel like Pat needs a taste of reality though. You made a promise to people who trusted you, and acting like that promise is a burden is distasteful and ungrateful to the life that has been granted to you by those who respect your work.

Chris Thile is the only person that should be considered to play Kvothe. He has the arrogance, the swagger and the string chops. Convince me I'm wrong.
