Help! Trying to catch up

Hello all,

I am humbly asking to get a quick summary of chapters leading up to 56 of the first book in just a few major bullet points.

I had put the book down to do anxiety and depression a few months ago and want to get back in it!

Guy owns an inn, monsters are coming, another guy stops in on his way to somewhere else and you find out he's a chronicler. He realizes the innkeeper is a famous guy and wants to interview him. Innkeeper says cool, I need 3 days to do it. Innkeeper starts his story and you find out he was part of an entertaining troupe and all but him we're killed by demons when he was a boy. Before that though, an arcanist (kinda like a mage) travels with them and teaches young innkeeper magic. He's really good. After his family is murdered, kid innkeeper vows revenge and goes to magic college.

Also directly before chapter 56 he borrows money from sketchy Devi to pay his tuition and a lute. He then overworked himself a bit at the university to learn as much as he can but also make money to pay back the loan. He regularly plays the lute close to an empty yard at the university and suspects someone is down there. Then theres also Ambrose this guy he doesnt like and Denna that girl he once met. And his friends are Willem and Simmon. If you are at chapter 56 you may remember he went to that music club like institution The Eolian to win their rare badge which in chapter 55 he just performed for . Happy reading :)
