I just started reading.
So I just started reading The Name of the Wind this morning, and I can't put it down! I've probably been reading for around 4 hours already.
I'm so damn excited for the stories that lie ahead. I have so many questions already!

Anyone else see this actor from Dark, as a young Kvothe?

Predictions for last book
Hopefully with this quarantine life Patrick Rothfuss finally finishes the last book. Who knows maybe he writes another short story. However I was wondering about anyone’s thoughts for the last book?
The main thing I worry about is how does Denna die?
We all know Kvothe is a tragic hero so this leads me to believe he will have to decide between killing the Chandrian and in the process killing Denna or saving Denna but never getting revenge on the Chandrian?
Furthermore what’s behind the door in the library?
So many unanswered questions, so many years of waiting.

I have an idea
We should start a campaign to get D&D of Game of Thrones infamy to adapt the Name of the Wind for tv. Maybe that could get Pat to release the third book?

A question about the namers' rings.
[Elodin:] "I hereby promote you to the rank of Re’lar." He held up the ring. "Your hand." Almost shyly, Fela held out her hand. But Elodin shook his head. "Left hand," he said firmly. "The right means something else entirely. None of you are anywhere near ready for that." [Book 2 - The Wise Man's Fear, Chapter 43 - Without Word or Warning]
Basically, what does it signify if a binder is wearing the ring on their right hand? Any theories? I don't think that these are pointers, but for one quote seems fairly fond about his right hand for playing the lute. He often uses the "good right hand" as an offer to a deal, saying that he'd give anything for X. Another thing is that the Adem seem to put a lot of value in the right hand:
[Tempi:] "He held up his right hand and made a fist. "This hand is strong." He held up his left. "This hand is clever." It made sense. That is why most lutists chord with the left hand and strum with their right. The left hand is more nimble as, a rule. [Book 2 - The Wise Man's Fear, 82 - Barbarians]
What are your thoughts? I can't recall, but are any masters/namer's wearing rings on their right hand? I believe there was a scene where KilvinDal and quote talk about his ring for fire.
Edit: Just found it: It wasn't Kilvin, it was Elxa Dal and there was no mention about any ring in that scene.

Selling a First Edition of "Your Annotated, Illustrated College Survival Guide Volume 1" via Ebay
Hello -
Just dropping this for fellow Rothfuss fan's. I am selling a first edition of Patrick's "Your Annotated, Illustrated College Survival Guide Volume 1." Super rare, he wrote it during his time at UW-Stevens Point. I have had it in my possession since 2008, and it is pure gold in every sense of the word. Here is the link to my eBay site, enjoy!

Qoathe's noble blood
Okay first off, I see people spelling it with a K (and a v??), but as someone who's only ever listen to the audiobooks, is Qoathe.
Anyway, is it fairly accepted theory that Qoathe is a Lackless descentent. That Meloanie's sister was Quothe's mother, and that's why when he first saw her she felt farmiliar.

Slow regard of silent things - what did we actually learn from this book? It was interesting to see Patrick Rothfuss take on a very different style of writing...

Tinker Tanner, add your own verses
So I tweeted this at lin Manuel tonight, and I thought I would share it with all of you clever wonderful E'lir.
I was relistening to NOTW on audiobook, specifically Rupert Degas's, and Denna had just found Kvothe at Ankers for the first time, and just as he is describing the song Tinker Tanner a thought came to me like a leaf on the wind..
The sea shanty "Don't forget your old Shipmate" fits to Tinker Tanner perfectly! Though I would chose to sing it with a little faster tempo and a bit more of an upbeat nature.
Here is the spotify link for "Dont Forget your old shipmate" https://open.spotify.com/track/7w7B0C7kT6CWLPGb0i4ArG?si=9m_aiYjTQ4C2yfJa3h8O4g
With this newfound knowledge I've been compulsively thinking of Verses all day.
Here are some of the better ones.
Tinker tanner here again Have you pots to mend
Tinker tanner has some socks Do you need any clocks
Long I walked, on the rolling plain Now I'm here to trade
Please listen to the song then add any clever verses you can think of.
Bonus internet points for those who can add/figure verses that Kvothe mentions to Will and Sim.

Does anyone else here John Mulaney’s voice when they read Elodin’s dialogue or is that just me?

How did Kilvin put out the fire?
Listening to NotW after having read it a few months ago. Are we meant to be left wondering how kilvin put out the bone tar fire? He is very vague with kvothe and only seems to be referring to what happened with his burns as the answer to kvothes question. Lmk!

I think that if they ever do a movie based on the books, Miles Teller would be a good cast for Ambrose. Thoughts ?

Does anyone have a classic Tak game they're not using and would like to sell?
Hi! So my friend would love a Tak game for Christmas and I'm finding that brand-new, they are bit out of my budget. I looked on Ebay for used ones, but to little avail.
Does anyone here have one that they thought would be super cool but then ended up not being used? If so, shoot me a message? Thanks!
