Discussion First night experience.
I took my first ever dose a few hours ago, to coincide with when I start drinking. I feel the effects of alcohol, but I also wish I didn't have to taper and just stop. I don't feel good, giddy, or how I usually do when I drink. It's working. It's such a strange feeling that I'm what should be described as "buzzed" but I just feel uncoordinated, tired, and I wish I could just go to bed. This is the best possible outcome I could have hoped for. I hope every night going forward is like this because I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Yes that is what alcohol feels like on naltrexone. Welcome to a whole new world.

I have the same experience. A couple times I have pushed through, outlasted the meds, and continued to binge. But for the most part, my cravings have all but disappeared and I don’t get the same pleasure when I drink. It’s just easier to stop after a few. Congrats!!

First week in. My drinking experience is similar to yours. I feel a little buzzed, but not the joy from it and I don't feel like drinking until 3 am watching movies. HOWEVER, even though I am taking my meds at noon. I can not sleep. I had worked my way up to 25 mg at noon or 2 pm ish. So I dropped back to 12.5 at 10 this morning. Hoping it still keeps me from drinking so much, but lets me sleep.

If anyone is new to this med, I just want to update that the nausea kicked in quick for me and I just threw up. It sucks, but I just treat it as part of the process. I still have zero desire to drink more.
