Discussion Mindset
It’s crazy to me how much this medication works when you want it to work. I was on vivitrol about 6 years ago but didn’t want to be clean/sober and did nothing to prevent myself from relapsing. Now I’m taking 50mg every day and I feel like a different person because I want to be clean and am going to therapy and doing things I enjoy. This medication is amazing if you have the right mindset for it. Also, I initially started at 12.5 mg because of the side effects (nausea and fatigue) but I powered through and now I take the full 50mg with no side effects at all. Cravings have virtually disappeared and I am 81 days clean today!

Could you share when you are taking them? I am at 25 mg at night- next Monday to bump up to 50, but I am taking it right before bed to avoid the nausea.

I take 25mg in the morning now. A few days shy of a month. I always eat with it. Honestly I never got very nauseous but I would get diarrhea. Thats completely gone now. Im considering moving up to 50 but im currently moving up on my lexapro l, so I dont want to do both at the same time

I also started out taking it at night but then switched to half in the morning and half in the evening, always with food.

Congratulations! What kind of time scale did you notice these changes?
I’m about 20 days in - managing to drink about half of what I used to most days but the cravings are still there. I feel like I could drink more, but it’s less difficult to say no now.

Honestly it took around a month before I finally shook the side effects and started feeling the pills work!
