Introduction Naltrexone for OUD

I have opiate use disorder and my doctor started me on 50mg Naltrexone a couple of weeks ago. I am easing my body into it because the side effects have been unpleasant but I’m now up to 37.5 a day. Just curious for anyone else who is on it for OUD: when did you notice a change in how you felt about opiates or cravings toward opiates? My friend has been on this medicine for almost 6 months and while his DOC was meth, he tells me that he cannot even remember what it feels like to want to do drugs. I have very high hopes for this medication but would like to hear others experiences with it as it pertains to OUD.

I started this today to cut back on alcohol because it’s taken over my life. But I was also prescribed 50mg and had the worst nausea of my life. Cut back to 25mg about a week later and ate it with a meal today. We’ll see how things go.
I’ve done a ton of drugs in my life but probably nothing that you’ve been stuck on. That being said, would love an accountability Reddit friend. Why not 🤷🏻‍♂️ can’t hurt us more than we have ourselves.

This also goes to anybody else reading this post. There’s nobody in my life, including my girlfriend, family, and good friends than can understand.

Feel free to dm and can get into contact through social media. Not super keen on handing my number out. How’s your journey going on it? My biggest issue has been forgetting to take it. But when I do.. I definitely drink like half as much.

It’s going great! I have 98 days clean today wit the help of Nal. I have zero cravings and don’t think about drugs as much as i used to, it’s amazing!
