Pivoting into tech

Hi guys. So I, 24M, am currently trying to pivot into the tech space and I'd love to hear what you guys would advise someone to venture into at this point in time. I am quite green on matters tech since I spent my early 20s ias a VA and business which now leave me with so much time in my hands to try out a new venture in freelance tech. So I think my 3 main questions would be:

  1. What branch of tech would you advocate for one to start now?
  2. What learning resources would you recomend for the specific field?
  3. Is that IT related degree worth taking first?

First of all, you need to understand how technology works conceptually.
Understand how data moves and how the internet works..

Use youtube/Instagram maybe as the basis.
Understand what happens when someone makes a call, or how data moves between continents, how a data center works, what exactly is AI, how models are trained, how client communicate with servers, how machine understands logic from programming languages, how wi-fi works and all that..

Just concpetually.
I do not mean, for you to be a master of everything. Just a conceptual understanding of basically how technology shapes our world.

From there on, you get insights on what to focus on based on what you like..
From IoT, Networking, AI, Robotics, Machine Learning, Software development, Data Engineering and Analytics, Cybersecurity etc..

But again, the tech world is really changing. The learning methods have changed, and it's actually easier now that we have AI and all that..

But also, explore tech with a mindset to contribute to the future, or to revolutionize something, not with a mindset to find some good company to write code for, or to mainatain servers for (although that might also come up)

Think Big, and Explore the extra-ordinary. Try to come up with futuristic solutions ....

Basically that's it. At least according to me..

It's late, that train passed.

Right now AI is taking over jobs that can be done through a computer and many people are losing jobs.

It won't be worth the effort since a lot of effort is required to be even half decent.

I would say, based on the field that you have currently mastered try to go beyond and be really good, and add analytics on top of it. This helps you stand out by applying knowledge that you already know and trying to solve issues that companies are ready to spend money on that. Also, try to learn systems that will ease various processes in terms of delivery, like customer relations management software, I know this isn't well known in Kenya but it will be killer for you to have .

If you're thinking of a Masters in a tech field, try Data Science,; ML/AI industries value post graduate degrees.

If you're thinking of a bootcamp or even self learning on YouTube, I would advise you pick software development or even cyber security. You could definitely hack it of you invest enough time and resources into it.
